State Programs Encourage Rural Sustainability with Affordable Financing for Solar Panel Installation
In Santa Catarina, state government initiatives have been boosting the use of solar energy in rural properties, providing savings to producers and promoting sustainable practices. Between 2023 and 2024, nearly 8,000 contracts were signed with farmers interested in adopting photovoltaic systems.
Solar Energy Transforms the Rural Landscape of Santa Catarina
The State Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAR) supported, through the Financia Agro SC and Pronampe Agro SC programs, the installation of solar energy systems in thousands of properties. There were 7,984 contracts signed in the last two years, totaling an investment exceeding R$ 10.6 million. The goal is to provide sustainable energy solutions that contribute to reducing operational costs in agricultural activities.
Direct Savings and Incentives for Sustainability
The adoption of solar energy has generated positive impacts on the finances of rural producers. An example is producer Eiracina Vicentini from Tijucas, who saw her monthly electricity bill drop from approximately R$ 500 to R$ 80 after the installation of the panels. Cases like this demonstrate how technology can be accessible and efficient, increasing energy autonomy and encouraging the use of renewable sources in the field.

Facilitated Financing for Small and Medium Farmers
State programs offer financing conditions adapted to the producer’s reality. In Financia Agro SC, for example, contracts can have zero interest and up to 30% discount on payments made on time. Meanwhile, Pronampe Agro SC allows for credit contracts with annual interest rates between 3% and 5%, a limit of up to R$ 100,000 per family, and repayment over up to eight years. These measures make solar energy a viable alternative for different property profiles.
Sustainability as a Strategy in Agribusiness
The use of photovoltaic systems in rural properties goes beyond savings. It reduces dependence on traditional energy sources, decreases the environmental footprint of agricultural production, and contributes to more responsible practices in the sector. Santa Catarina positions itself as a reference in public policies that combine innovation, support for producers, and encouragement of solar energy usage as a driver of sustainable rural development.
