Auction of Correios Includes BH Building in State Sale to Reduce Billion-Dollar Deficit and Accelerate Financial Restructuring.
The Correios implemented, this Thursday (12), the first major Correios Auction of its own real estate assets, including a BH Building valued at R$ 8.3 million.
The initiative takes place in Belo Horizonte and in 10 other states, as part of a broad financial restructuring strategy.
The goal is to reduce the billion-dollar deficit of the state company through the state sale of unproductive assets.

The UN’s Adaptation Fund approved nearly US$134 million in projects, but received over US$1.3 billion in proposals, exposing the size of the queue of vulnerable countries requesting climate aid without sufficient funds to meet their needs.
A total of 21 units were made available for immediate negotiation.
The properties are distributed among Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, and São Paulo.
Therefore, the sale of the Correios Properties marks the first concrete phase of the emergency plan aimed at restoring the company’s cash flow.
BH Building Stands Out Among Sold Correios Properties
Among the assets, the BH Building stands out due to its size and strategic location.
The property is located at Avenida do Contorno, No. 1.909, in the Floresta neighborhood, in the eastern region of the capital of Minas Gerais.
According to the state company, the minimum negotiation value was set at R$ 8.3 million, below the initial appraisal of R$ 9.3 million—a reduction made precisely to increase investor interest.
Thus, the building has become one of the main assets of this phase of the Correios Auction, both for its commercial potential and the expected liquidity.
Structure of BH Building Increases Investor Interest
The structure of the BH Building reinforces its market value.
The land has a total area of 554,000 m², with 3,069 m² of constructed area.
In addition, the building features two basements intended for parking and eight floors used for diversified commercial purposes.
This profile allows for adaptation to offices, services, or corporate operations.
On the other hand, the state company emphasizes that the discount applied to the initial price aims to accelerate the state sale and reduce maintenance costs.
Financial Restructuring Could Raise Up to R$ 1.5 Billion
The institutional expectation is robust.
The management projects that the Correios Auction could raise up to R$ 1.5 billion.
This amount would be reinvested in logistics modernization, operational technology, and cash balance.
Additionally, the reduction of expenses related to the maintenance of unproductive Correios Properties also contributes to the cost savings calculation.
Meanwhile, new assets are already being prepared for sale in the first half of the year.
State Sale Does Not Affect Services, Says Correios
In an official statement, the company stated that the asset disposal does not harm service delivery to the public.
According to the statement, the sales of unproductive properties “do not have any impact on the provision of services to the population.”
Currently, the operational infrastructure includes more than 10,350 service units and about 1,100 distribution and treatment centers across the country.
Correios Auction Will Be Digital and Open to the Public
Another relevant point is the format.
The Correios Auction will take place entirely online, allowing participation from natural and legal persons.
The event is scheduled for February 26, at 2 PM (Brasília time).
The starting bids range from R$ 19,000 to R$ 11 million, broadening access to different investor profiles.
In addition, a sequential bidding model will be adopted.
If there are no proposals at the minimum price, the price is automatically reduced during the session.
Rules, Registration, and Payment for Correios Properties
Therefore, those interested in the Correios Properties must register in advance on the platform of the responsible auctioneer.
After approval, it is possible to qualify for the desired lots.
The notice sets a deadline of up to 60 days for payment after winning the bid.
However, the state company warns that some assets may have partial occupations, and the removal of occupants is the buyer’s responsibility.
Financial Crisis Drives State Sale of Assets
The financial restructuring originates from a critical fiscal scenario.
Correios reports a structural deficit exceeding R$ 4 billion annually.
In addition, it has a negative net worth of R$ 10.4 billion and a cumulative loss of R$ 6.057 billion as of September 2025.
The consolidated figures from the last fiscal year have not yet been finalized.
Therefore, the state sale of properties has become a central piece of the financial survival strategy.
Additional Measures Expand Financial Restructuring Plan
The plan is not limited to the Correios Auction.
In December, the company raised R$ 12 billion in credit for emergency actions.
Additionally, it announced the closure of 1,000 agencies and the implementation of a Voluntary Dismissal Plan.
The expectation is for the participation of up to 15,000 employees.
Thus, the sale of assets, including the BH Building, is part of a broader package of structural adjustments.
