With an Investment of Around R$ 600 Million, the Giant National Company Suzano Aims to Build a New Industrial Unit in Espírito Santo
Suzano, the largest global producer of eucalyptus cellulose and one of the top 10 market pulp producers, announced on June 30 its intention to proceed with a project to construct a facility located in the city of Aracruz, in the state of Espírito Santo. The new factory, which will be focused on the production of tissue paper and conversion into paper towels and toilet paper, is expected to have the capacity to generate 60,000 tons per year.
The Brazilian paper and cellulose company – which is recruiting candidates for various job openings – estimates a significant investment of around 600 million reais for the construction of the new factory in Espírito Santo. Additionally, Suzano states that the total duration of construction is expected to be two years, considering the date of project approval.
Company Depends on Espírito Santo Authorities to Execute the Project with ICMS Credits
According to a statement sent by the company to the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) and reported by the news outlet Broadcast, Suzano intends to use its available ICMS credits in Espírito Santo for the construction of the factory. It stated: “Suzano intends to make the investment using the balance of ICMS credits it has in the state, which will depend on the presentation of a specific project and authorization from the competent authorities.”

As of now, the effective implementation of Suzano’s new industrial unit in Espírito Santo still depends on legal approval from the company’s internal bodies, including the Board of Directors. Furthermore, it is also subject to the finalization of contracts with the involved suppliers.
In conclusion, Suzano emphasizes: “The construction of the new factory in Aracruz is aligned with Suzano’s strategy to advance in the supply chain, always with a competitive advantage, such as in the growing Brazilian market for sanitary products.”
