Havan Campaign in Santa Catarina Will Have Temporarily Discounted Gasoline, Limit per Vehicle, and Sales in Selected Cities During Tax-Free Day.

Businessman Luciano Hang announced that Havan gas stations in Santa Catarina will sell regular gasoline at a reduced price this Wednesday, May 20th, during the Tax-Free Day.

The action provides a discount equivalent to the tax burden reported by the company on the fuel and will be carried out at the Brusque, Barra Velha, Palhoça, and Araranguá units.

The campaign, promoted by the retailer, associates the temporary price reduction with the debate about the presence of taxes in the final price of products and services.

In the case of gasoline, Havan states that each liter filled has R$ 2.25 in embedded taxes, a value used by the company as a reference for the action.

According to the company, there will be a limit on refueling per vehicle and a maximum amount of fuel available at each station throughout the day.

The information released so far does not detail the maximum amount authorized per driver nor the total volume reserved at each participating unit.

Discounted Gasoline in Santa Catarina

The participating stations are located in four municipalities in Santa Catarina where Havan operates fuel services.

The initiative includes Brusque, the municipality where the company was founded, as well as Barra Velha, Palhoça, and Araranguá.

During the campaign, sales will be made with a discount that, according to Havan, corresponds to the symbolic removal of taxes on regular gasoline.

Thus, the consumer will pay a lower price per liter while fuel is available for the action at each station.

The operation must follow service rules defined by the company, with control per vehicle and limitation of the offer during the campaign’s operating period.

These conditions were informed by Havan as part of the organization of the promotional sale.

Until the publication of the consulted information, there was no public confirmation of a single start time at all units.

Therefore, operational details, such as the start of sales and closure due to depletion of the reserved stock, depend on the communication of each participating station.

Tax-Free Day and Tax Burden

In a video released by the company, Havan stated that the consumer pays R$ 2.25 in taxes per liter of gasoline when refueling at the network’s stations.

The statement was used in the campaign to explain the calculation that supports the announced discount.

“Even when you refuel at the Havan station, you pay R$ 2.25 in taxes per liter of gasoline,” the company stated in the publication.

Luciano Hang also linked the action to the debate on the Brazilian tax burden.

According to the businessman, the campaign aims to present to the consumer the difference between the full price of products and services and the estimated value without the tax portion.

“Brazilians work almost half the year paying taxes. January, tax. February, tax. March, tax. April, tax. May, tax. It’s as if all these months you worked only to pay taxes,” declared Hang.

In another statement about Tax-Free Day, the businessman stated that the proposal is to show the public how much products could cost without the tax incidence.

“We want to show the population how products could cost less without so many taxes. Today, the tax burden weighs on family budgets, reduces purchasing power, and affects the entire economy,” he said.

Havan will have an action in 191 megastores

In addition to the gas stations in Santa Catarina, the 191 Havan megastores in the country also participate in Tax-Free Day.

During the action, a specific product will be sold with a special discount, in a dynamic presented by the retailer as a symbolic removal of the tax burden on the item.

The network conducts the campaign in May, a period associated by sector entities with the calculation of days worked in the year for the payment of taxes, fees, and contributions.

In the case of Havan, the date is used for commercial actions in physical stores and, this year, also in selected gas stations.

The retailer’s advertising campaign features influencer Cela alongside Luciano Hang, as per information released about the action.

Her presence appears as part of the company’s promotional communication for Tax-Free Day.

By applying the discount on fuel and an item sold in stores, Havan presents the campaign as a way to demonstrate, through temporarily reduced prices, the participation of taxes in the amount paid by the consumer.

The action, however, has a limited duration and depends on the stock reserved for each unit.

IBPT points out 149 days of work to pay taxes

The campaign also references a survey by the Brazilian Institute of Planning and Taxation, the IBPT.

According to the institute’s study, in 2025 the Brazilian taxpayer needed to work until May 29 just to pay taxes, fees, and contributions, equivalent to 149 days of the year.

The calculation considers taxes levied on income, property, and consumption.

In the IBPT methodology, the tax burden represented 40.82% of the average annual income of Brazilians in 2025, an index used to translate the weight of taxes into working days.

According to the survey, the values considered include obligations destined for federal, state, and municipal governments.

The reading of the data in worked days is a method adopted by the institute to present to the public the impact of taxes on the average taxpayer’s income.

Havan uses this indicator as a basis for promoting the Zero Tax Day.

According to the company, the campaign seeks to practically show how taxes make up the final price of products sold in retail and services consumed by the population.
