NFE’s LNG Terminal in Santa Catarina Is Ready, Meeting Energy and Storage and Regasification Infrastructure Demand.
New Fortress Energy (NFE), one of the leading energy companies in the U.S., announced the completion of its terminal in Santa Catarina (TGS) in Brazil. The company is looking forward to the arrival of the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Energos Winter in January 2024.
The first LNG terminal in the south of the country, strategically positioned to meet the growing industrial and energy demand, Santa Catarina is expected to supply natural gas to the region with energy restrictions. New Fortress Energy Signs Definitive Agreement with Petrobras for LNG Terminal
In November 2023, New Fortress Energy signed a definitive agreement with Brazilian state oil and gas giant Petrobras for the Energos Winter, which will be deployed at the TGS. NFE disclosed that the FSRU would be sub-chartered by NFE for the remaining term of the charter with Petrobras and then chartered directly by NFE on a long-term basis with Energos. This is expected to allow NFE to continue uninterrupted long-term service.

TGS Terminal: Growth Opportunity for New Fortress Energy
Andrew Dete, NFE’s CEO, commented on the terminal: ‘The TGS terminal is a unique and high-growth opportunity for NFE, as its connection to the pipeline system in southern Brazil offers a diverse and short-term set of opportunities in energy and gas supply.’
At the time, NFE revealed that the FSRU would be sub-chartered by NFE for the remaining term of the charter with the infrastructure of Energos based in the U.S. and then chartered directly by NFE on a long-term basis with Energos. This is expected to allow NFE to continue uninterrupted long-term service.
