The Great Company of Elon Musk, Tesla, Has Opened in the Tibetan City of Lhasa, China, Its First Station That Uses Only Solar Energy to Charge Electric Cars
The electric car company, Tesla, has opened its first Supercharger station in China that uses solar energy panels for 100% sustainable charging. The new charging station is the first in the world and stands out for collecting over 3,000 hours of sunlight per year.

The station that uses solar energy is located in the Tibetan city of Lhasa, and according to an announcement from Tesla, the choice of location was due to the abundance of sunlight in this mountainous area.
Although China is the second-largest market for the electric car company, this is the first complete charging station of Tesla that has independent solar energy storage.

The Beginning of a Green Journey
The solar energy panels, which were installed on the roof of the electric car charging station, collect sunlight, which is stored through accumulators and then finally made available to Tesla Superchargers.
Elon Musk’s company also announced that the solar energy system for the electric car charging station will be able to collect around 3,000 hours of sunlight annually. In one of the two posts made by Tesla after the inauguration of the sustainable charging station, the CEO stated that the system makes efficient use of the gifts of the Sun and nature.
“The constant flow of solar energy has been fully utilized to establish an ecological chain from use to storage,” stated the electric car company. The goal, according to the second post, is to “begin a green journey.”
Tesla Stands Out in the Solar Energy Market
The electric car company became interested in solar energy in mid-2016. To enter the market, Tesla purchased Solar City, a California company, for about US$ 2.6 billion, and currently, the company is part of Tesla Energy. Shortly after this acquisition, the automaker announced it aims to further evolve in the renewable energy sector.
In this area, the electric company produces and installs photovoltaic solar energy panels and also Powerwall energy storage devices, which store the energy produced by the sun for powering homes and charging electric cars.
Last year (2020), Elon Musk’s automaker made the decision to develop its business in the solar energy sector in China and announced the hiring of leadership to open a Solar Roof office in the country.
