Heir worked at thirteen in an ice cream factory without revealing he was the owner’s son; today, at twenty-five, he leads the best-selling ice cream brand for home consumption in the Northeast, grosses almost R$ 300 million, has 145 stores, and competes with multinationals with regional flavors.
Its presence on the Lonely Planet list is seen as a result of urban solutions developed in recent years.
The city seeks to consolidate its image as an attractive, sustainable destination associated with quality of life.
R$ 6 billion in revitalizations
The projected investment reaches R$ 6 billion and is part of PRO Curitiba, a revitalization program launched in September 2025.
The proposal is to transform urban infrastructure and prepare the city to expand its strength in international tourism.
The investments planned until 2028 are part of a broader urban planning strategy. The city government is betting on infrastructure requalification and tourism promotion to strengthen Curitiba‘s position in the global market.
Works on Novo Inter 2 have resumed
The city government has resumed works on Novo Inter 2 – Lot 1, one of the fronts of PRO Curitiba. The interventions cover 16 km of streets in Santa Quitéria, Portão, Seminário, Campina do Siqueira, and Vila Izabel.
Services include concrete paving, asphalt maintenance, drainage, accessible sidewalks, landscaping, and road signage.
These actions aim to reorganize important thoroughfares and improve traffic conditions in the served neighborhoods.
Traffic changes during interventions
The works are also expected to cause temporary traffic alterations, with total and partial street closures.
The municipal administration acknowledges the impacts during the execution of services but believes that future gains will compensate for the inconveniences.
Tatiana Turra, president of the Municipal Tourism Institute of Curitiba, stated that the inclusion among the selected destinations validates the effort to position the city in global tourism.
The combination of international recognition and billion-dollar works reinforces the attempt to expand the capital’s tourist reach.
