The Toledo Firefighters Battalion will be elevated to a new structure following the sanction of the state law that authorizes the creation of the 14th Military Firefighter Battalion. The announcement was made this Wednesday (24), during a visit to the Municipal Palace.
The measure is part of a set of investments by the Government of Paraná totaling R$ 74,050,715.94. The resources were presented by state deputy Hussein Bakri, leader of the government in the Legislative Assembly of Paraná, in a meeting with authorities.
Firefighters Battalion will have reinforced personnel
The creation of the 14th Firefighters Battalion expands the corporation’s structure in the municipality and foresees reinforcement in the number of professionals assigned to serve Toledo and other cities in the Western region.
Hussein Bakri informed that the personnel should be greater than initially anticipated. The next step will be to seek resources to build a headquarters compatible with the importance of the new unit.

Colonel Jesuíno Dalponte explained that transforming the unit into a battalion will allow for a gradual expansion of the structure. The change may involve an increase in personnel, expansion of units, and improvement in response capacity to incidents attended by the corporation.
For Councilor Professor Oséias, recognizing Toledo as a battalion headquarters meets a historical demand.
The new condition opens up prospects for physical structures, better working conditions, and growth of services provided to the community.
Councilor Marli Costa stated that the topic had been under discussion since last year. As she reported, members of the Fire Department pointed out the creation of the battalion as a fundamental step to expand the corporation and enable achievements.

Schools concentrate most of the investments
Of the total announced, approximately R$ 62 million will be invested in the construction of three state schools. The units will be located in the neighborhoods of Jardim Bressan, Jardim Filadélfia/Pancera, and Orquídeas/Coopagro.
Another amount of R$ 11.5 million will be allocated to urban resurfacing. The interventions will cover sections of Ministro Cirne Lima, Parigot de Souza, Ignácio Lothário Klassmann, Maripá, Senador Attílio Fontana, José João Muraro, Nossa Senhora de Fátima, and Roberto Fachini avenues.
The package also includes R$ 260,325.62 to air-condition the Euzébio Garcia Sports Gymnasium. Another R$ 290,390.32 will be used for the renovation of Campo Pedroso, expanding investments in the municipality’s sports facilities.
Municipality will also receive ten police officers
During the meeting, Hussein Bakri announced that Toledo will receive ten more police officers after the completion of the current Military Police training course. The group will be incorporated into the local service force.
Mayor Mario Costenaro stated that the investments accompany Toledo’s growth and are part of a plan aimed at expanding infrastructure and public services.
He highlighted that the municipality is experiencing a period of simultaneous works in different areas. According to the mayor, the results are due to the joint efforts of the municipal administration, City Council, public servants, organized society, and the State Government.
Costenaro also linked the actions to mobility, production flow, education, health, and public safety. For him, the municipality’s expansion requires the preparation of the local public structure to keep up with development.
New unit will serve Toledo and the Western region
The expectation presented by the authorities is that the new Firefighters Battalion will directly strengthen not only the service but also the regional operations of the corporation. The expansion is expected to occur gradually, according to the unit’s operational organization.
The event brought together councilors, representatives of business entities, community safety councils, the Regional Education Center, members of the Fire Department, municipal secretaries, and public servants.
Also participating were councilors Marcos Zanetti, Jairo Cerbarro, and Ricardo Santos, as well as the presidents of Acit, Ademir Kopeginski, and Conseg, Ernani Magnabosco. The president of Conseg Rural, Juciely Tonial, was also present.
The creation of the battalion and the R$ 74 million package bring together investments in security, education, mobility, and sports. The next steps include defining the physical structure of the unit and executing the announced works.
