Toyota launches the new revamped RAV4 in two HEV versions, with a 360 camera that can be activated at 60 km/h, matrix headlights at the top of the line, and prices starting at R$ 317,910
Toyota has introduced the new 6th generation RAV4 to the Brazilian market, and this time, the strategy focuses on full hybrid HEV technology. The aim is to deliver an SUV with a comprehensive safety package, assisted driving, and all-wheel drive with a rear electric motor, maintaining the base of the TNGA platform but with a complete product overhaul.
Toyota also highlights advancements in the mechanical set and driver assistance systems, as well as a package of equipment that varies between the S and SX versions. The model arrives with a combined power of 239 hp and a promise of strong after-sales support, including up to 10 years of warranty, according to the information presented.
What changes in the 6th generation Toyota RAV4

Toyota explains that this is not just a facelift. Although it maintains the TNGA platform and preserves aspects such as suspension construction, wheelbase, and length, the RAV4 has undergone a complete overhaul inside and out, with adjustments to the combustion engine, electrical system, and suspension recalibrations.

The visual also changes clearly, with a front identity that the brand calls Hammerheads, along with a new LED lighting signature.
Hybrid HEV engine and combined power of 239 hp
The Toyota RAV4 is now offered in Brazil only with full hybrid HEV technology in two versions. The presented data of the set are:
Combustion engine: 186 hp and 22.5 kgfm
Front electric motor (MG2): 136 equivalent hp and 21.2 kgfm
Rear electric motor: 54 hp and 12.3 kgfm
Total combined power: 239 hp
Toyota does not disclose combined torque. The reason given is that the motors operate at different times, with greater electric participation at low speeds and more influence from the combustion engine as speed increases.
All-wheel drive with rear electric motor and automatic management
The RAV4 features all-wheel drive without mechanical linkage between axles, as the rear axle is powered by an electric motor. The system connects the rear axle on demand, as sensors identify conditions such as corner acceleration, hills, slippery surfaces, or the need for stability.
The car also offers driving modes on the console: eco, normal, sport, and custom, as well as terrain-focused modes like snow and trail. In trail mode, all-wheel drive tends to be activated more frequently, according to the behavior shown.
TSS 4.0 and the Toyota Driving Assistance Package
The Toyota Safety System evolves to version 4.0 and relies mainly on a camera in the windshield and radar, now positioned in a dedicated area at the front. The mentioned features include:
Adaptive cruise control with stop and go
Front collision warning with automatic emergency braking
Lane departure alert and lane keeping assist
Recognition of vehicles, cyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians in emergencies
Traffic sign recognition with display on the dashboard
A highlighted detail is that, in this model, lane keeping assist depends on the adaptive cruise control being engaged, meaning that when the cruise control is turned off, the lane keeping assist also deactivates.
360 Camera, Sensors, and Parking Features

The Toyota RAV4 offers a 360º camera system with a front camera, cameras in the mirrors, a rear camera, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. In addition to facilitating maneuvers, there is a parking assist feature to help place the car in the parking space.
One point that stands out in the presented use is that the 360 camera can be activated at 60 km/h, which is uncommon in many models, where the system usually shuts off at lower speeds.
LED Lighting and Matrix High Beam in the Top Version
The external lighting is all LED, with a light signature divided into two segments on different planes. The headlight is of the projector type in LED, with low, high, turn signal, and auxiliary also in LED.
In the SX version, there is a differentiator: matrix high beam, with the ability to cut off vehicles on the road, as well as automatic leveling.
Dimensions, Suspension, and Ground Clearance
The figures presented for the Toyota RAV4 include:
Wheelbase: 2.69 m
Length: 4.60 m
Ground clearance: 20.1 cm
In its construction, the model features independent McPherson front suspension and independent multi-link rear suspension, as well as disc brakes on all four wheels, with ventilated discs at the front.
Trunk of 514 liters and practical solutions for daily use

According to Toyota, the trunk has 514 liters in VDA measurement, with electric operation, opening via key, internal button, and on the lid, as well as a foot gesture opening option.
There is a practical solution for those who need to use the temporary spare: the trunk floor is adjustable, allowing the original tire to fit without unevenness in the compartment. There is also space to store the retractable cover in the vehicle itself.
Battery, cooling, and safety in case of accident
The hybrid system features a 1.9 kWh battery under the rear seat, air-cooled, using the cooler air from the cabin to improve ventilation.
Another mentioned detail is the presence of two cooling reservoirs, one dedicated to the combustion engine and another to the electric system. There is also a labeled cable for disconnection in emergencies, designed to deactivate the high-voltage battery in the event of a serious accident.
Observed consumption and driving modes in the presented test
In the shown use, the eco mode was used to prioritize efficiency. The averages displayed varied according to the segment, with figures cited as 15.1 km/l in urban circuits and averages above that on highways, in addition to a drop when driving in sport mode.
These results depend on traffic, route, and driving style, but the highlighted point is that the hybrid system alternates between the combustion engine and electric motor in a noticeable way, including energy recovery on descents.
Prices, versions, and warranty of the Toyota RAV4
The Toyota RAV4 comes in two versions:
RAV4 S: starting at R$ 317,910
RAV4 SX: R$ 349,290
Among the differences mentioned for the SX are items such as adaptive high beam matrix headlights, 360-degree camera, parking assistance system, panoramic sunroof, signature sound (JBL), larger screen, and two wireless phone chargers.
Toyota also emphasizes that the RAV4 is one of the few imported vehicles in Brazil with up to 10 years of warranty, in addition to a focus on parts availability.
Do you think Toyota made the right choice by bringing the RAV4 only as a hybrid HEV, or is there still a need for a plug-in hybrid version in Brazil?
