The Toyota Hilux Left No Chance for the Competition in the First Half of September, Selling More Than Double the Pickup Trucks Compared to the Second Place. See How It Conquered the Top of the Market!
The Toyota Hilux is leaving the competition behind in the mid-size pickup market. In the first 15 days of September, the iconic pickup recorded an impressive 2,932 registrations, according to preliminary data from the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).
This result reinforces the leadership of the Hilux, which has maintained an absolute dominance in sales of the segment in 2024.

The Success of the Toyota Hilux
With its sales performance, the Hilux has left its rivals far behind. To give you an idea of the difference, the Ford Ranger, the second place in the mid-size pickup ranking, sold only 1,432 units in the same period, less than half of what Toyota sold. The Chevrolet S10, another traditional competitor, recorded even more modest numbers.

The most common error in blitzes continues to go unnoticed by many drivers, but it can result in an immediate fine, add points to the driver’s license (CNH), and even lead to the retention of the vehicle during inspections.
For the year to date, the Toyota Hilux has already reached 31,771 units sold from January to August, while the Ford Ranger totals 18,231 and the Chevrolet S10 just 16,449. These numbers show how comfortable the Hilux’s position is in the Brazilian market.
Toyota Hilux Revives the SRX Version
To ensure it continues to reign in the segment, Toyota decided to bring back the SRX version of the Hilux, which had been removed from the lineup in May of this year.
Now, the configuration is available again, priced at R$ 324,690. The SRX is equipped with a 2.8 turbodiesel engine that generates 204 hp of power and 50.9 kgfm of torque.
The transmission is a six-speed automatic, and the pickup features 4×4 traction and a rear differential lock, providing robust performance for both work and leisure.
This move shows how attentive Toyota is to market trends. The company consistently keeps the Hilux attractive to consumers, especially in a segment where competition is intense.
Ford’s Response with the Ranger Black

Despite Toyota’s success, Ford is not willing to hand over the market without a fight. The automaker has already confirmed the arrival of a new version of the Ranger, the Ranger Black.
This new option will be positioned closer to the entry-level configurations of the line, clearly with the intention of attracting consumers from the Ram Rampage and increasing Ranger sales.
There are not many details yet about the Ranger Black, but it is speculated that it will come equipped with a 2.0 turbodiesel engine producing 170 hp, accompanied by a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
The estimated price for this version is around R$ 260,000, positioning it slightly below the XLS 2.0 4×4 version, which costs R$ 264,490.
The Toyota Hilux remains unbeatable in mid-size pickup sales, and with the return of the SRX version, the brand demonstrates its commitment to maintaining this leadership.
Ford, for its part, is trying to respond with the launch of the Ranger Black, but it will face a significant challenge if it wants to close the gap with Hilux’s numbers.
The pickup market in Brazil remains dynamic and competitive, and it will be interesting to follow the next chapters of this dispute.
