The Superior Labor Court Renewed Its Official Fleet with 30 Units of the Hybrid Sedan Lexus ES 300h, Model That Combines Performance and Efficiency.
According to a report from Metrópoles, the Superior Labor Court (TST) invested R$ 10.39 million in the purchase of 30 luxury sedans Lexux ES 300h for use by its ministers. The purchase has generated a lot of criticism on social media.
Each vehicle cost R$ 346.5 thousand, and the acquisition was made at a dealership in Brasília. The fleet is intended to serve the 27 ministers of the Court, with three extra units.
The TST justifies the fleet renewal based on a resolution from the National Justice Council (CNJ) and internal regulations that define vehicles older than seven years as “unserviceable” and “uneconomical.”

While irregular buildings often challenge residents for decades, neighbors of a condominium in India faced a real estate giant and managed to demolish two 100-meter towers in front of the cameras.
In the week prior to the announcement of the purchase, the Court had already faced criticism for hiring a VIP lounge at Brasília airport, costing R$ 1.5 million for two years.
Choice of the Most Expensive Model
A preliminary technical study published on the TST website presented four options that would meet the Court’s needs: Honda Accord (R$ 332.4 thousand), BYD Seal electric (R$ 310.7 thousand), Toyota Camry (R$ 344.1 thousand), and the Lexus, initially priced at R$ 396 thousand.
Even being below the estimated price, the Lexus remained the most expensive option on the list.
According to the study, the model stood out for its combination of comfort, performance, and hybrid technology.
Technical Details of the Lexus ES 300h

The Lexus ES 300h is a luxury hybrid sedan that combines a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder DOHC 16V combustion engine with VVT-iE on intake and VVT-I on exhaust, and a Permanent Magnet electric motor.
The combustion engine produces 178 hp at 5,700 rpm, while the electric motor generates 120 hp. Together, they achieve a combined power of 211 hp—in some markets, estimates are close to 215 hp.
The electric motor delivers torque of 202 Nm, and the battery is of the Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) type, with a voltage of 244.8 V.
Performance and Consumption

The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
The reported consumption in Brazil is 15.8 km/l in the city and 15.2 km/l on the highway. International reference data (EPA, 2025 model) indicate averages close to 18 to 19 km/l, equivalent to 43 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.
The transmission is an automatic CVT (continuously variable transmission) with front-wheel drive.
Design and Lighting
The model features ultra-compact LED headlights, L-shaped daytime running lights, and a design with striking lines. The eighth generation of the ES presents greater structural rigidity and improvements in ride comfort. The interior space has also increased, with an additional 165 mm in length and 77 mm extra for legroom in the back seat.
Interior and Technology
The Lexus ES 300h comes with dual-zone digital air conditioning, an electrochromic internal rearview mirror, and a trunk with electric opening and closing, as well as a “hands-free” system that allows for opening via a motion sensor under the rear bumper.
The dashboard features a 7″ multifunction display (MID) and a 7″ color TFT onboard computer screen.
The system displays driving information, tire pressure, GPS navigation, audio, steering assistance, alert messages, and customizable settings.
The model offers EV, ECO, NORMAL, and SPORT driving modes. It also includes a keyless ignition system, smart entry door unlocking, and cruise control.
Comfort and Modernity
The interior follows a minimalist concept, with refined finishes and a 12.3″ touchscreen in some versions. The multimedia system receives Over-the-Air updates, ensuring functions are always up to date.
With a combination of efficient performance, reduced consumption, and cutting-edge technology, the Lexus ES 300h positions itself as a premium choice in the hybrid sedan segment.
The purchase by the TST, however, maintained a focus on a model that, while being the most expensive among the listed options, meets the performance and comfort requirements defined by the Court itself.
