Prepaid Mode Is Now Available Nationwide and Allows You to Buy Packages at Fixed Price Per Ride
The new feature from Uber that previously operated in only 34 Brazilian cities has just been released for users across the entire country. The so-called Prepaid Mode, which allows users to purchase travel packages with a fixed price per route, is now a national option for those seeking more financial control and cost predictability.
According to information from the portal FDR, the new system enables the advance purchase of 5, 10, 15, or 20 rides with a locked fare, without worrying about changes in traffic or fluctuations in demand prices. The function was tested in capitals such as Salvador, Porto Alegre, Recife, Belo Horizonte, and Curitiba, and is now available to users in any city with active Uber service.
What Is Uber’s Prepaid Mode?
In Prepaid Mode, users can pay in advance for a package of specific rides, all with a pre-established price. The major advantage is knowing exactly how much will be charged, regardless of the time, traffic, or external conditions, which avoids unpleasant surprises in the final fare.

This feature works exclusively for rides in the UberX category, the most popular option in the app. The feature only accepts digital payments, such as credit cards, debit cards, or digital wallets. Even so, there are no restrictions regarding the pickup or drop-off locations.
In Which Cities Was the Feature Already Available?
The system was tested in 34 Brazilian cities, including Aracaju, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Campo Grande, Cuiabá, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Fortaleza, Goiânia, João Pessoa, Maceió, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador, São Luís, Teresina, Vitória, and several cities in São Paulo, such as Campinas, Sorocaba, and Ribeirão Preto.
Now, with the national release, any user in Brazil can access Prepaid Mode directly through the Uber app with just a few taps:
- Open the app;
- Access the “Rides” menu;
- Select “Fixed Price” or “Prepaid”;
- Choose the route, number of rides, and complete the digital payment.
Why Could This Change Benefit Users?
The main advantage is budget control. For those who frequently use Uber, especially for commuting to work, studying, or performing fixed activities, this model brings more security and stability to monthly expenses.
Additionally, the system prevents unexpected price increases during peak times or on days with heavy traffic. It’s a practical and straightforward alternative for those looking to avoid the price fluctuations that often frustrate app transportation users.
