Federal University of Goiás (UFG) Announces 150 Slots for a Unique and Completely Free Specialization in Heritage Education, Offered in the Distance Learning Modality.

In a scenario where the appreciation of Brazilian cultural heritage becomes increasingly essential, the training of qualified professionals to work in this area gains prominence.

The Federal University of Goiás (UFG) recognizes this need and, through its College of Social Sciences, launches a not-to-be-missed opportunity for educators and professionals interested in deepening their knowledge in Heritage Education.

UFG has opened applications for the lato sensu postgraduate course in Heritage Education: Schools, Museums, and Communities, completely free and in the distance learning (EAD) modality.

Course Objectives

The course aims to train professionals to act critically and innovatively in the promotion and appreciation of Brazilian cultural heritage. Among the main objectives are:

Explore theoretical and methodological issues regarding heritage and heritage education.
Appreciate culture as a central element of Brazilian education, with an emphasis on the history and geography of Goiás.
Reflect on heritage as a right for all, promoting inclusion and cultural diversity.
Develop didactic-pedagogical tools applicable in formal and non-formal education contexts.

Target Audience and Requirements

The course is intended for professionals graduated in the fields of Human Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, and Linguistics, Letters, and Arts.

This includes teachers from public and private schools, educators from museums and cultural institutions, as well as other professionals interested in heritage education and cultural appreciation.

The selection of candidates will be based on the analysis of a Statement of Intent, in which the candidate must detail their academic and professional trajectory, the reasons for choosing the course, and their expectations regarding the specialization.

Slots and Service Centers

The 150 available slots are evenly distributed among five service centers, each offering 30 slots:

Goiás
Pirenópolis
Planaltina
São Simão

Schedule and Course Load

The course will begin on April 28, 2025, and end on October 28, 2026, totaling a workload of 400 hours. The complete schedule for the selection process is as follows:

Applications: until March 9, 2025
Publication of the preliminary result of approved applications: March 12, 2025
Deadline for filing appeals against the preliminary result: March 13 and 14, 2025
Announcement of the final result of approved applications: March 17, 2025
Selection period for candidates: March 18 to 30, 2025
Publication of the preliminary result of the selection process: March 31, 2025
Deadline for filing appeals against the preliminary result of the selection process: April 1 and 2, 2025
Announcement of the final result of the selection process: April 3, 2025
Confirmation of enrollment: April 7 to 11, 2025
Start of classes: April 28, 2025
