Petrobras Closes Fertilizer Plant in Paraná and Will Dismiss 396 Employees

On Tuesday, the 14th, Petrobras approved the closure of the fertilizer plant located in Araucária, Paraná. The decision will result in the dismissal of 396 employees from the unit.

The choice comes after several unsuccessful attempts by the company to sell the asset, which according to Petrobras has been showing recurring losses since it was acquired in 2013.

In a statement, Petrobras says that the results from Ansa demonstrate the lack of sustainability of the business: from January to September last year, the loss was nearly R$ 250 million. For the end of this year, predictions were of a negative result exceeding R$ 400 million.
