NeoCharge Analysis Reveals Significant Financial Advantage of Electric Vehicles
NeoCharge, a leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, released a study highlighting a 30% increase in the Brazilian fleet of electrified cars in just seven months. According to the analysis, Brazil recorded a rise from 120,518 to 157,038 electrified vehicles from December 2022 to July 2023, based on data from Senatran. This progress reflects the growing awareness among Brazilian drivers about the economic and environmental benefits of EVs, a trend that is gaining momentum globally.
Cost Comparison: Electric Vehicles versus Combustion
The savings provided by EVs become clear when analyzing the annual fueling cost. With an average gasoline price of R$ 5.82 per liter, a gasoline car that drives 20,000 km per year, with an efficiency of 10 km/L, would incur an annual expense of R$ 11,663.28. In contrast, an EV covering the same number of kilometers annually and consuming 6 km/kWh at R$ 0.72 per kWh would result in an expense of only R$ 2,401.92. This represents a remarkable savings of 79% or R$ 9,261.36 per year.
Impact for Rideshare Drivers
For professionals like rideshare drivers who travel an average of 60,000 km per year, the financial advantage of EVs is even more pronounced. NeoCharge estimates that, in this scenario, fueling with gasoline would cost R$ 34,920 per year, while for an EV, the cost would be only R$ 7,197. This difference translates to an annual savings of approximately R$ 28,000.

Additional Benefits of Electric Vehicles
In addition to significant cost savings, Raphael Pintão, co-founder of NeoCharge, highlights other factors driving the choice of EVs: the reduction in the emission of pollutants, the superior efficiency of electric motors, lower maintenance costs, and optimized performance, with maximum torque available instantly. In contrast, combustion vehicles reach maximum torque at higher RPM ranges.
