The Vietnamese Company VinFast Surprises The Market By Announcing A New Affordable Electric Car During CES 2024. It Is An Electric SUV That Has An Approximate Price Of R$ 60 Thousand.
The popularization of electric cars is becoming an increasingly close reality, with recent announcements of affordable models. During the CES 2024, the Vietnamese automaker VinFast presented its new electric mobility products and emphasized its expectation to globally launch its electric SUV, known as the VinFast VF3.
New Affordable Electric Car Will Cost About R$ 60 Thousand
According to data from InsideEVs, the company confirmed that the new electric SUV will be sold in the U.S. market. Therefore, this is great news for those looking for an affordable electric car without “frills” to drive in the city and with enough space for 5 occupants.
An official launch date for North America has not yet been announced; however, the VinFast VF3 was presented in Vietnam in mid-2023 and is already in pre-sale there. Deliveries in the Southeast Asian country are scheduled for the third quarter of 2024. From there, it will arrive in global markets where the company operates.

Hyundai launches a 7-seater ‘Kombi’ cheaper than Chevrolet Spin, Citroën Aircross, and Tiggo 8 Pro in Brazil; for around R$ 78,500 in conversion without taxes, the Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz features a 1.5 engine, manual or IVT transmission, 205 mm ground clearance, and the SmartSense package that Brazilians don’t have yet, but Indonesia does.
According to local media, the electric SUV will have an initial price of 300 million Vietnamese dong, equivalent to R$ 60 thousand in a direct conversion. In the U.S., it is rumored to be around US$ 20 thousand, dropping to US$ 12,500 after the federal subsidy of US$ 7,500.
VinFast organized two meetings with potential U.S. dealers in October and presented a full-size prototype of the VinFast VF3.
The brand’s advisor, Duke Hale, claims that approximately 100 dealers have shown interest in selling the affordable electric car, largely due to its very aggressive price. According to Hale, dealers liked the entire lineup, but the VF3 received almost 100% response. They really liked the model, and the reason is probably its price below US$ 20 thousand.
Electric SUV Delivers A Range Of 285 km
With a strictly urban proposal, the VinFast VF3 is quite small. The battery subcompact is equipped with 16’’ wheels and measures 3.14 meters in length, 1.60 meters in height, and 1.67 meters in width. According to the Vietnamese automaker, it was developed with a focus on young drivers and can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The motor specifications, battery, and power have not yet been disclosed; however, VinFast claims it delivers a range of 285 km on a charge based on the Chinese cycle and 237 km by the WLTP standard.
According to Ms. Tran Mai Hoa, Vice-CEO of Sales and Marketing at the brand, with the global launch of this affordable electric car, the company is pleased to introduce a new electric vehicle to its lineup. Most importantly, it intends to provide a new companion for a generation of young drivers, who value practicality alongside personality. The VF3 aims to break free from the imagination of urban mobility that is not only sustainable but also accessible to everyone.
VinFast Electric SUV Also Features Various Cutting-Edge Technologies
Internally, the design of the model is simple and features a digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch multimedia screen equipped with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and a rear seat that folds down, allowing the total cargo space to be expanded to 550 liters in that condition.
Other details such as prices and warranty policies have not yet been disclosed. It is important to highlight that VinFast is hiring executives to start operations in Brazil and, in the near future, the small VinFast VF3 could fit perfectly into the brand’s portfolio in Brazil, provided it has the aggressive pricing that is expected.
