After the process is completed, the certificate is generated and sent for printing. In addition, the document is authenticated by the instances responsible for data preservation, as well as by VW Garage, the complete vehicle development sector and the Press Department of Volkswagen Brazil.
It is important to highlight that each certificate has a cost of R$ 500, and that all the money raised through this program will be used to finance the VW Garage, which houses all the classic VW models at the automaker’s headquarters located in São Bernardo do Campo/SP. This program aims to preserve and maintain the brand’s historic vehicles.

The Destination of the Money Raised by Volkswagen
The automaker Volkswagen had already announced that all the capital from this program would be directed to the VW Garage, a museum located at the company’s headquarters in São Bernardo do Campo/SP. This museum houses all the models produced in Brazil. The first three automobiles registered with this certificate are, by the way, on display there: the ‘Corujinha’ Kombi from 1960, with a skirt-and-blouse paint in Calypso Red and Lotus White; the TL from 1972, in Lotus White; and the Gol 1300, in Calypso Red, which was the first Gol to receive the “black plate” in history.
The Registry of Classic Cars from Volkswagen has been an immense success. According to the manufacturer, its program to register cars older than 20 years of manufacture in Brazil generated over 1,000 requests in just 48 hours, with revenue exceeding R$ 500,000.
Brazil was the second country to receive the program, after Germany, and according to the company, the demand for certificates remains high. The official service website has received over 22,000 visits so far, which will soon translate into more requests.
