Volkswagen Studies The Possibility Of Opening Applications With Hundreds Of New Job Vacancies At Its Factory In SP. The Company Has Not Offered Opportunities Since 2019 In The Taubaté Region
Volkswagen plans to offer 150 new job vacancies at its factory in Taubaté (SP). The opening of these opportunities still depends on the category approving an agreement with the automaker that includes changes to the holiday schedule and production division of the Polo Track with the unit in São Bernardo do Campo (SP).
Effective Job Vacancies And For Apprentices
The proposal will be voted on in a meeting today (29) with workers from both shifts of the factory in SP. Volkswagen’s proposal also includes the creation of jobs for 120 SENAI apprentices by 2025, in addition to the manufacture of a new car from the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform.
The estimate from the Metalworkers’ Union is that the opening of the 150 job vacancies for the factory in SP will happen in the second half of this year, so that the third shift in stamping and body assembly can be fully operational starting in January. The Polo Track, initially, would be an exclusive model of the factory in Taubaté (SP), with the inclusion of the MQB platform, a technology used by Volkswagen that makes it possible to manufacture products that are already created from this unique matrix.

This will be the first new model in Taubaté since the Up in 2014. The amount to be invested in Volkswagen’s new model has not been disclosed, but expectations are that the vehicle will reach dealerships in 2023.

The company has also provided a bonus of R$ 2,000 with the change in the schedule, which will be paid in installments, with half at the end of this year and the remainder in 2023.
The work calendar, holidays, extension of the third shift in some sectors, and health insurance are also expected to undergo changes. If the proposal is approved, the job vacancies will be the first opened at Volkswagen’s factory since 2019.
At that time, the company offered up to 80 positions, but on a temporary basis. The proposal, according to the union, despite the division of production of the car that is in the plant, signals improvement with the investments projected in the last year.
In 2021, the automaker stated that it would invest R$ 7 billion in Latin America, starting with the Taubaté plant. Currently, the factory has about 3,200 workers and produces the Voyage and Gol vehicles.
Meet The VW Factory In Taubaté – SP
The factory in Taubaté was inaugurated in January 1976, being one of the most advanced in the Volkswagen Group worldwide in terms of technology and innovation, and it is also the second largest unit of the automaker.
Located in the interior of the state of São Paulo, the factory has a total area of 3.6 million square meters and 396,000 square meters of constructed area. The unit began its activities with the production of parts for the classic Beetle and Kombi.
Two years later, the unit officially began vehicle production with the series assembly of the Passat, but it was only in 1980 that Taubaté opened the door to a new phase in the automotive sector with the start of production of the “square” Gol.
