The WEG HVService Team Is Proud to Participate and Contribute to Such an Innovative and Important Project in the Oil and Gas Sector
Through its HVService team, WEG, based at the WEG Portugal facilities, successfully completed, in the first quarter of 2022, the commissioning of two Medium Voltage Drives for low-pressure gas fuel centrifugal compressors (LP) on an FPSO (Floating Storage and Offloading Unit) in the Gulf of Mexico.
For this project, WEG supplied two MVW3000 Medium Voltage Drives (6900V, 110A) and two MGF 450 Induction Motors (6900V 850kW). These solutions were successfully commissioned at the FSPO, which included complete inspection, testing, measurements, and necessary adjustments to ensure the proper functioning of the compressors, responsible for controlling pressure and transporting gas to a station onshore.
The WEG HVService team is proud to participate and contribute to such an innovative and important project in the Oil & Gas sector. This service further reinforces WEG’s expertise in maintaining a technical and after-sales support team ready to provide all the support for the highest efficiency of the solutions.

WEG Delivers Giant Transformer Measuring 10.1 Meters Tall and Weighing 271.1 Tons to the Neoenergia Oiti Wind Complex in Northeastern Brazil
The construction of the Neoenergia Oiti Wind Complex, the largest of the company in Brazil, located between Piauí and Bahia, is advancing rapidly. The first of three transformers that will be installed at the Oitis substation has just been delivered by WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of turbines and electric motors in the world, with each unit having a capacity of 230 MVA.
Manufactured by WEG in Betim (MG), the transformer arrived at the site after a 45-day journey, covering 3,297 kilometers. Due to the size of the equipment, which measures about 10.1 meters in height and weighs 271.1 tons (filled with oil), a complex logistical operation was required. The other two transformers are scheduled for delivery in December.
