The new WEG equipment that will arrive at the end of the year at the Cerradão ethanol plant is considered the largest backpressure steam turbine and the largest 4-pole generator in the world sugar-energy sector

WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world, will equip the Cerradão ethanol plant with the largest backpressure steam turbine and the largest 4-pole generator in the sugar-energy sector in the world! The contract, which includes a 60 MW BT backpressure steam turbine, a SuperTurbo reducer, a 66,7 MVA ST generator, 4 poles, 13.800 V, 1.800 rpm, 60 Hz and a complete protection, control and supervision system, with cubicles, panels, battery system and chargers, will generate revenues of approximately R$ 15 million for the company.

The BT turbine has the capacity to admit more than 330 t/h of steam at 65 bar/520 ºC, and will feed the plant process with two steam outlets, one medium pressure outlet and one low pressure exhaust. Watch the video below and learn about the turbines and generators manufactured by WEG.

Scheduled for delivery in December 2021, the equipment will be installed in the plant's power generation process, making the operation more robust, flexible and profitable.

According to Paulo Sinoti, Energy Business Director at WEG, this supply, in addition to consolidating WEG as one of the main suppliers of equipment for the sugar-energy sector, confirms the customer's preference and confidence in the company's products and services. “Usina Cerradão is already our client and has two turbogenerators in operation in this same plant”, explains the executive.

The Cerradão Plant has been located in the Frutal region, in Triângulo Mineiro/MG, since 2008. Generating 84 MW/h and an installed capacity of 105 MW, it has enough energy to supply approximately 230 inhabitants. With this investment, the Plant expects a significant increase in energy production and a return on invested capital of approximately three years.

WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world, bets on artificial intelligence for predictive maintenance in wind turbines

WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of electric motors in the world, with a broad portfolio for renewable energy generation, has sought to innovate and make increasingly technological equipment available to the market. For the wind turbine segment (aerogenerators) the company has been betting on artificial intelligence to plan the predictive maintenance of equipment. The solution works through cloud computing and is based on data collected remotely.

The application combines the WEGnology® platform and Artificial Intelligence from BirminD, a WEG Group company. Artificial intelligence receives various data from wind turbines (wind turbines) in real time, processes this information using BirminD's automachine learning solution, which tests dozens of algorithms automatically seeking the best performance, delivering as a result the prediction (future state) of variables of interest to the team that monitors the equipment.

In short, the product communicates in real time with the wind turbines (wind turbines) and detects potential maintenance needs in advance, triggering the demand for early diagnosis and corrective action, avoiding losses in the availability of wind turbines. Using data associated with the solution developed by WEG, it is possible to anticipate situations that influence the availability of the equipment, which may reflect in generation gains.

The solution is at an advanced stage of validation, before being made available to the wind turbine market (aerogenerators). It can be applied in other segments such as: prediction of overtemperature in inverters, furnace efficiency, extruder cycle time, energy consumption, production demand and many other applications.
