The public consultation for the new transmission auction anticipates network expansion in five regions of the country, with thousands of kilometers of lines, reinforcement in substations, and a direct impact on construction, energy, and jobs.
The Brazilian government has opened the public consultation for the Transmission Auction No. 4/2026, an electrical infrastructure package that anticipates R$ 11.3 billion in investments, 2,069 km of new lines and sections, and an estimated creation of 28,900 direct and indirect jobs. The project also includes 13,564 MVA in transformation capacity, which enhances the system’s strength to transport energy more safely.
The works will cross seven states and reach all five regions of the country. This places the new auction at the center of the energy and infrastructure agenda for 2026, with an impact that goes far beyond the electric sector and extends to employment, engineering, and the supply chain.
Transmission Auction No. 4/2026 enters consultation before the decisive stage
The public consultation will receive contributions from April 9 to May 25, 2026. After that, the final text still needs to pass through the ANEEL board and go for analysis by the Federal Court of Accounts, an essential step before the bidding advances to the final phase.

Promise that affects the wallet: Brazilian general director of the largest hydroelectric plant in Brazil says that the tariff should drop in 2027.
The expected completion deadlines for the projects vary between 36 and 60 months after the signing of contracts. This means a long cycle of heavy construction, with effects distributed over several years in the country’s energy transmission.
Kilometers, jobs, and territorial reach place the package on another scale
The most striking data is the physical dimension of the project. There are 2,069 km of electrical lines being prepared in a single auction, a volume that helps explain why the package is already entering the scene as one of the heaviest moves of the year in transmission.
The projection of nearly 29,000 jobs reinforces this weight. In transmission works, this effect tends to spread to manufacturers, construction companies, assemblers, transporters, and engineering firms, amplifying the impact beyond the main construction site.
China returns to the radar after significant wins in transmission
The Chinese presence in the competition has strengthened in recent years. In December 2023, State Grid Brazil Holding won lot 1 of the Transmission Auction No. 2/2023, precisely the largest ever put up for bid by ANEEL until then, with an estimated investment of R$ 18.1 billion within a bidding of R$ 21.7 billion.
In October 2025, CPFL Transmissão won lot 3 of the Transmission Auction No. 4/2025. The Chinese weight also appears in this case because State Grid completed the acquisition of the controlling stake in CPFL Energia in 2017, according to the company itself.
This history helps explain why the new billion-dollar package reignites the question of a new Chinese victory. The current auction has not yet taken place, but the recent memory of the sector keeps these groups on the radar whenever a large transmission asset comes into play.
The race remains open and the recent scenario shows international competition
At the same time, the race is far from automatic. In the first transmission auction of 2026, held on March 27, the winners were Cymi Construções e Participações, linked to the Spanish group ACS, Engie Transmissão de Energia Participações, controlled by the French group ENGIE, and the Consórcio BR2ET Transmissora. The five lots offered were auctioned off, and the event attracted R$ 3.3 billion in investments.
This result shows that the market remains open to groups of different profiles, with foreign capital and local consortia competing for space in an increasingly strategic sector. The Chinese history weighs in, but it does not close the game in an auction that is born surrounded by scale, employment, and international interest.
Billion-dollar package puts transmission back at the center of infrastructure
The Transmission Auction No. 4/2026 is not only noteworthy for its value. It combines R$ 11.3 billion, 2,069 km of lines, nearly 29,000 jobs, and works in seven states at a time when the expansion of the electrical grid has become a central piece to sustain growth, operational security, and new investments in the sector.
If the current design is maintained until the final phase, the country will have one of the largest movements of the year in transmission. And, with the recent history of victories linked to China, the market already views this auction as a competition capable of reshaping the map of Brazilian electrical infrastructure once again.
