Wilson Sons’ Rio Base Will Support BP’s Oil Exploration
Wilson Sons, a leader in the Brazilian port and maritime logistics market, has established a significant contract with BP (British Petroleum), one of the world’s leading companies in oil and gas exploration and production. This one-year agreement involves providing logistics services for exploration operations in the Pau Brasil block, utilizing the strategically located Offshore Support Base, the Rio Base, situated in Guanabara Bay.
This contract represents an important milestone for Wilson Sons, reaffirming its position as a pioneering company in offshore support services. With two operational bases in Guanabara Bay – Niterói Base and Rio Base – the company demonstrates its ability to meet the growing demand from the offshore oil and gas sector.
Infrastructure and Expertise of Wilson Sons
The Rio Base, located in the Caju neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro’s port area, will be the unit responsible for serving BP’s operations. With five docking berths and an area of over 65,000 square meters, the Rio Base is strategically positioned to support fields in the pre-salt polygon. Moreover, Wilson Sons stands out for its expertise in remote operations, setting up temporary bases in various ports along the Brazilian coast.

Safety and Performance as Keys to Success
The achievement of the contract with BP is also due to Wilson Sons’ excellence in Safety, Environment, and Occupational Health (SMS) and key performance indicators (KPI). Wilson Sons’ Offshore Support Bases, both in Rio and Niterói, are globally recognized for their safety standards, completing a decade without lost-time accidents.
The partnership with BP is not new for Wilson Sons.
