New Mijia backpack features internal division for electronics and personal items, 13 multifunctional pockets, and compatibility with 16-inch notebooks, in a proposal aimed at work, study, and urban commuting within Xiaomi’s accessory catalog.

Xiaomi has launched in crowdfunding in China the Mijia Minimalist Business Backpack, a backpack aimed at professional use, studies, and urban commuting, with space for a notebook up to 16 inches, a dedicated compartment for electronics, and an initial price of 149 yuan, equivalent to about US$ 22.

Listed on the Xiaomi Youpin platform, the accessory has a suggested price of 199 yuan, approximately US$ 29, but appears in the crowdfunding campaign for 149 yuan, according to information released in China about the product launch.

As of the latest disclosure, there was no official confirmation of a global launch or regular sale in other markets, including Brazil, which initially keeps the backpack restricted to the Chinese market.

Mijia Backpack is aimed at work, study, and short trips

Within Xiaomi’s catalog, the new backpack expands the brand’s presence in daily use accessories, a segment in which the company sells products related to the Mijia ecosystem and mobility routines.

The model combines a discreet look, internal organization, and compatibility with devices used in productivity activities, without official indication that it was developed as a premium product or luxury item.

With a rectangular shape and three-dimensional structure, the Mijia Minimalist Business Backpack was presented with a design aimed at corporate environments, urban commuting, studies, and short trips, according to the description associated with the launch.

The flat base allows the backpack to stand more easily on flat surfaces, a characteristic related to the structure’s shape and the more rigid design adopted in the product.

The backpack measures 290 × 120 × 400 mm and accommodates notebooks up to 16 inches, as well as tablets up to 11.2 inches, according to the specifications released for the model.

Based on the informed dimensions, the accessory meets the needs of users who carry a laptop, tablet, charger, documents, and small items on the same commute, especially in study routines, in-person work, or urban mobility.

Double compartment separates electronics and personal items

Among the organizational features, the backpack offers an internal division into two compartments, with one area designated for electronics and another section aimed at clothes, documents, cables, chargers, and personal items.

This separation is intended to keep the notebook, tablet, and technological accessories in their own space, reducing direct contact of these devices with items that may move during transport.

In the internal organization, the user can store cables, chargers, notepads, a pencil case, wallet, headphones, and other smaller items without occupying the compartment reserved for larger electronic equipment.

The design also includes 13 multifunctional pockets, distributed among internal dividers and quick-access areas, with space for power banks, pens, glasses, adapters, keys, cards, and small everyday accessories.

With this configuration, the backpack aims to organize different categories of items in separate areas, a common feature in accessories aimed at work, study, and commuting with more than one electronic device.

Water-repellent fabric has level 4 protection

The Mijia Minimalist Business Backpack uses fabric with level 4 water-repellent protection, according to information released by Chinese media that followed the product listing on the Xiaomi Youpin platform.

The protection is suitable for splashes and light rain, but does not equate to full waterproof certification, a point that limits the use of the accessory in situations of heavy rain or prolonged contact with water.

In short commutes under drizzle or occasional exposure to liquids, the water-repellent fabric can help reduce surface absorption, although electronics still require additional care in conditions of higher humidity.

For this reason, notebooks, tablets, and power banks should not rely solely on the backpack’s repellent layer when there is a risk of heavy rain, soaking, or continuous exposure to water.

Besides the surface resistance, the model features ergonomic “S” shaped straps, an element presented by Xiaomi as part of the comfort structure for use during commutes.

The construction of the straps aims to distribute the weight on the shoulders when the backpack is loaded with a notebook, tablet, and accessories, especially on public transport routes, urban walks, and prolonged periods of use.

On the back, the backpack has a breathable structure, a feature adopted to promote ventilation between the accessory and the back during daily use.

Although this finish does not eliminate heat, it is part of the proposal for use in urban commutes, where prolonged contact of the backpack with the body can cause discomfort.

Colors and design follow the corporate use proposal

The backpack was presented in light gray, charcoal black, and beige, neutral variations that accompany the minimalist proposal informed in the product’s name.

Due to the choice of colors and straight lines, the accessory is similar to backpacks aimed at professional environments, external meetings, universities, and short trips, without adopting flashy visual elements.

Xiaomi prioritized a clean-looking construction, few apparent details, and a rectangular shape, characteristics associated with the description of a minimalist backpack released at the launch.

This design positions the product among compact everyday use accessories, focusing on transporting electronics, documents, light clothing, and essential items for the routine.

The model was not presented as a high-capacity backpack for long trips, but as an option for daily commutes and situations where a laptop and tablet need to be carried together.

Within this proposal, the division of compartments and the number of pockets fulfill an organizational function, especially for users who carry productivity accessories, chargers, and personal items in the same backpack.

Xiaomi Backpack Price Appears Below US$ 30

The price of 149 yuan during the crowdfunding phase places the Mijia Minimalist Business Backpack in a range below US$ 30 in direct conversion, before taxes, shipping, or potential import costs.

After the initial campaign, the suggested price for the product is 199 yuan, equivalent to approximately US$ 29, also considering only the direct conversion of the Chinese currency.

The launch strategy follows the pattern of some Mijia products sold in China, which often appear first on crowdfunding platforms or pre-sale linked to the Xiaomi ecosystem.

Instead of a proposal focused on luxury materials, the backpack combines functional features, internal organization, and compatibility with electronic devices in a low-priced product in the Chinese market.

There is still no official information about sales in Brazil, national pricing, import taxes, or availability in global retailers, which prevents estimating how much the accessory would cost outside China.

If the model is sold through independent importation, the final value may vary according to exchange rates, shipping, taxes, and margins applied by third-party stores, factors not directly dependent on the price announced by Xiaomi.

Currently, the Mijia Minimalist Business Backpack appears as a product initially launched for Chinese consumers, with sales associated with Xiaomi Youpin and no public schedule for other countries.

The arrival in international markets will depend on the brand’s commercial decision or independent distributors, a scenario that has not yet been publicly confirmed by Xiaomi.
