Xiaomi, one of the global giants of Chinese technology, will use a solution created in Santa Catarina by Embraco. The inverter compressor is what has gained visibility in Xiaomi’s new line of refrigerators, which, in addition to being the second-largest smartphone producer in the world, is heavily investing in expanding its portfolio, with operations in smart appliances and even electric cars.

Xiaomi and Embraco Form Partnership
At the end of last year, Embraco – which is currently a brand of the Japanese Nidec Global Appliance (NGA) – and Xiaomi formed a partnership for technology use. It was established that the new line of household refrigerators from the Chinese giant will utilize variable-speed compressors, in a portfolio that ranges from the entry-level product, the FMX, to the VES, which is the Premium platform.
These compressors were created by the Embraco research team in Santa Catarina to achieve greater energy efficiency. After some time, they began to be produced by the company’s factories around the world, mainly in China, which will supply Xiaomi. The partnership also included the supply of Embraco electric motors for washing machines.

Xiaomi Decides to Enter the Electric Car Sector

Plans show that the company intends to build a new factory for vehicle production that should start production as early as 2024.
Production could reach a level of 300,000 cars per year. In addition to the new electric model factory, Xiaomi is also expected to build its entire management, research, and sales structure at the same location. The new plant is expected to be established in Beijing, with plans for its physical stores in the area to support sales.
