Can you imagine if a Corsa could match or even beat a Ferrari? An English janitor has turbocharged his Corsa with two engines so that the vehicle can travel 400 meters in 11,9 seconds against a Ferrari 488 Pista

What if a corsa was able to beat a Ferrari 488 Pista? It sounds crazy, but there are several aspects that can make this a reality, such as using two engines that can deliver more than 1.000 horsepower. The Chevrolet Corsa that was used in the drag test is a creation of the English janitor and mechanic Adam Beard, who bought the model in England ten years ago for approximately R$ 1.300 at the exchange rate at the time.

Ferrari Vs Corsa

To get an idea of the monstrosity created by Beard, we compare the specifications of a common corsa with those of a Ferrari 488 Pista. The Italian sportswoman, in addition to all the glamor of the brand, offers 710 hp that are guaranteed by the 3.8 V8 biturbo engine, with seven gears and a double clutch.

In addition, it has the ability to go from 0-100 km/h in 2,85 s. Now if we compare the Ferrari with a common Corsa, which we find in Brazilian dealerships, the difference is huge, since the Chevrolet has a power of 105 horsepower in a torque of 13,36 kgfm and only reaches a maximum speed of 180 km/h .

Two engines with 608 horsepower

Beard claims that he created all of the car's mechanisms on his own, while paying his bills by working as a janitor.

The idea of installing two engines came about for convenience, as there is the possibility of disconnecting them and alternating the Corsa's traction, which can be front, rear or all-wheel drive. At the same time, due to the two 2.0 DOHC engines, with 608 hp each, the vehicle can stand up to luxury and sports models, such as the Ferrari 488 Pista.

In all, the Corsa has the capacity to deliver 1.216 horsepower and 132 kgfm and has a six-speed gearbox installed by the caretaker himself, who spent around R$ 360.000 to prepare it over the years. As he had no more money to invest, all the work was done by his own hands.

At the moment of truth, the race between the vehicles was fierce and, although it started with a wide advantage, the caretaker's Corsa was overtaken by the Ferrari 488 Pista, which covered the 400 meters in 11s, against 11,9s of the vehicle with two engines.

To compensate for the lack of assistance and mechanical preparation of wheels and tires, for example, a launched start was also made, at 64 km/h. The caretaker's vehicle tied the game, opening 0,3s of advantage and doing 400 meters in 7,2 seconds.
