Bolsa Família saw the exit of about 15 million people
Wellington Dias stated that, considering an average of three people per family, the exit of more than five million families represents about 15 million people who left the program due to overcoming poverty.
The minister presented the number as a response to criticisms that beneficiaries prefer not to work to continue receiving the benefit.

Seven million families work and still receive the benefit
Dias informed that, in May, seven million and 100 thousand families served by Bolsa Família were working, had formal employment, a small business, or another source of income.
For the minister, this data shows that the program does not prevent entry into the labor market. He also highlighted that Bolsa Família has counterparts linked to children’s health and education.
According to Wellington Dias, each year, one million and 300 thousand people from the program complete some form of education. He related this educational advancement to the role of Bolsa Família in improving social indicators.
Minister associates program with advancement in HDI
During the interview, Wellington Dias stated that Brazil reached for the first time the very high level in the United Nations Human Development Index, with the effect of Bolsa Família.
He said that the program was identified as one of the main foundations of this advancement, especially due to its relation to education, health, and overcoming poverty.
New website and app are now live
The minister also spoke about the new website and app for Bolsa Família, launched this Wednesday (27th), but available since the 18th.
According to him, the tool allows access to information about the program itself and other government initiatives. Users can check for job openings in their state or municipality, ask questions, and verify reasons for benefit blocking.
