Learn About the National Investment in High-Speed Internet That Will Benefit 767 Thousand Households and Combat Access Insecurity.
In a historic initiative for connectivity in the country, an ambitious investment plan has been announced to boost telecommunications infrastructure in various regions.
A total of R$ 1.4 billion in Fust resources (Telecommunications Services Universalization Fund) will be allocated to 20 states that will receive funds to expand 4G and 5G.
The measure promises to improve internet speed by expanding the coverage of fixed broadband, directly reaching 767 thousand households spread across 552 municipalities throughout the country.

While solar plants require constant sun, engineers are creating a solar system that continues to desalinate even without strong light, eliminates fragile membranes, and produces potable water by recycling heat in a nearly continuous cycle.
The news, which comes as a relief to communities historically lacking in connectivity, aims to combat digital inequality and ensure that more Brazilians have access to high-speed services.
The project demonstrates a commitment to the universalization of internet access, a fundamental step for social and economic development.
The Strategic Focus and the Three Investment Fronts
The choice of municipalities to be benefited was not random. The investments will be directed to municipalities that face access insecurity to the internet.
This strategic approach aims not only to increase coverage but also to create a robust and lasting infrastructure.
The money from Fust will be applied in three coordinated work fronts:
- Expansion of the Fiber Optic Network: bringing a high-capacity backbone to cities and districts, ensuring connection quality.
- Access Networks in Cities: installing the final infrastructure that brings high-speed internet to homes and businesses.
- 4G and 5G Technologies: expanding mobile coverage so residents can access fast internet on their cell phones, whether in urban or rural areas.
This combination of fronts shows that the plan is comprehensive and seeks to solve the connectivity problem in a complete manner, tackling both the absence of fixed infrastructure and advanced mobile technology.
Details of the 20 States and Regions Covered
The massive investment has national reach, distributing resources in a way that addresses the different realities of Brazil.
The list of benefited states covers various regions:
- Northeast: With a total of 8 states, the region will receive a significant portion of the investment, highlighting Maranhão (MA), Piauí (PI), Ceará (CE), Rio Grande do Norte (RN), Paraíba (PB), Pernambuco (PE), Sergipe (SE), and Bahia (BA).
- Southeast: The most populous states will also benefit, with investments in Minas Gerais (MG), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), and São Paulo (SP), aiming to improve connection quality in areas where demand is high.
- North: The Amazon region will receive an important boost for its connectivity, with resources directed to Acre (AC), Amazonas (AM), Rondônia (RO), Roraima (RR), and Tocantins (TO).
- South: The infrastructure in the South will be strengthened in the states of Paraná (PR), Santa Catarina (SC), and Rio Grande do Sul (RS).
- Central-West: Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) is also on the list, receiving a portion of the resources for its expansion.
The project’s scope highlights the intention to reduce the disparity between large capitals and interior municipalities, which often suffer from a lack of quality connection options.
The Social and Economic Impact of the Project
Access to high-speed internet is now a fundamental right.
For the 767 thousand households that will benefit, this means more than just access to social networks.
It means the possibility of studying remotely, using telemedicine, accessing banking and government services more efficiently, and starting an online business.
The expansion of fixed broadband coverage and the advancement of 4G and 5G technologies are catalysts for social inclusion and the development of new job and income opportunities in these locations.
With faster and more stable internet, communities will be able to participate more fully in the digital economy.
