Chinese Electric SUV Exceeds Expectations and Achieves 200,000 Confirmed Orders in Just Three Minutes After Sales Begin in China.

The launch of the Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV caused a real avalanche in the Chinese electric car market. In just three minutes, the model registered an impressive 200,000 confirmed orders.

The feat surprised even the brand itself, which was expecting high demand, but not at this pace. With competitive prices and high-level performance, the YU7 directly challenges the Tesla Model Y.

SUV Arrives to Compete with Tesla

The Xiaomi YU7 was officially launched on June 26, 2025. Although it had been presented earlier, only now were the range of versions and prices revealed.

Xiaomi opted to offer the SUV in three versions: Standard, Pro, and Max, following the same pattern as the SU7, another model from the brand.

The starting price for the Standard version begins at 253,500 yuan (about €30,196), while the Pro version starts at 279,900 yuan (€33,340).

The most complete version, Max, is priced at 329,900 yuan (€39,300). For comparison, the Tesla Model Y starts in Chinese territory at 263,500 yuan (€31,390), making the YU7 a cheaper alternative, even while offering more power and range.

Power and Range Stand Out

The Standard version of the Xiaomi YU7 features a single electric motor on the rear axle, with rear-wheel drive and 320 horsepower.

This configuration allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.88 seconds. The Pro version adds a second motor on the front axle, providing all-wheel drive and 496 horsepower, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.27 seconds.

The Max version takes performance to another level. With a total power of 690 horsepower, the model reaches 100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds. This performance places the YU7 at the top of electric SUVs in terms of acceleration.

Regarding range, the Standard and Pro versions come equipped with a 96.3 kWh battery. The entry-level version offers 835 km of range, while the intermediate version records 770 km, always according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. The Max version utilizes an even larger battery, at 101.7 kWh, with a certified range of 760 km.

Orders Surge and Xiaomi Responds

Minutes after the end of the official presentation, Xiaomi announced via Weibo that it had surpassed the 200,000 firm order mark.

The number rose rapidly, and after an hour, it had already reached 289,000 confirmed reservations. This is a sales pace that finds no precedent among electric vehicles to date.

The company made some strategic decisions in light of the high demand. Customers who purchased the SU7 model and have not yet received it — many facing a wait time of up to 52 weeks — will be able to exchange their order for the new YU7. This option will be available until June 29.

Deliveries Start Next Week

The first units of the Xiaomi YU7 are expected to begin delivering as early as next week, specifically for those who chose stock configurations.

For more customized orders, the expected delivery is from August, according to information available in the brand’s official app.

With impressive numbers, top performance, and aggressive prices, the Xiaomi YU7 seems to solidify the company’s entry into the electric SUV market.

The public’s reaction shows that the strategy was spot on and the interest in accessible electric vehicles, with high performance, is stronger than ever.
