Million-Dollar Investment Will Create 200 Jobs in MG at Crown, One of the Most Important Aluminum Can Manufacturers in Brazil
The multinational Crown Embalagens, one of the most important manufacturers of aluminum cans for beer, soft drinks, juices, and teas in Brazil, announced an investment in Minas Gerais for the installation of a new unit in 2022 for the production of 2.4 billion cans, and promises to generate many jobs in the region. The factory will be installed in Uberaba, through the political management of former mayor Paulo Piau and former economic development secretary José Renato Gomes, with investments exceeding R$ 650 million, along with the prospect of generating over 100 direct jobs and another 100 indirect jobs.
Grupo Petrópolis and the Uberaba City Hall signed a Commitment Agreement on December 24, 2020, which will enable this year the beginning of construction for the aluminum can factory. The start of operations is expected in the first half of 2022. The unit aims to meet the demand of Grupo Petrópolis.

As is known, the third production line for cans at the factory will begin operations in 2021, making this investment essential to meet the group’s operational demand.
The production of the first line is expected to start in the second quarter of 2022, followed by the second line in the fourth quarter of 2022. The new factory will expand Crown’s annual production capacity in Brazil to 13.3 billion cans.
Investments by the Multinational Crown in Factories in Brazil

This expansion will help meet the country’s increasing demand for beverage cans and demonstrates Crown’s ongoing commitment to grow with our customers,” commented Djalma Novaes, President of Crown’s Americas Division. “The aluminum can for beverages is perfect for the Brazilian market; it is recyclable and sustainable, easily shipped, and more efficiently preserves the quality of the beverage for the end consumer.”
At the end of 2020, the company also announced the expansion of its Goiás factory for 2021, where it is investing over R$ 300 million.
Crown has been generating jobs in Brazil since 1942 and has a strong presence with two-piece aluminum can factories in Cabreúva (SP), Estância (Sergipe), Ponta Grossa (PR), Rio Verde (GO), Teresina (Piauí), and a beverage factory in Manaus (AM).
