Part Of The Financing Amount Will Be Loaned And The Other Part Will Be Through The Subscription Of Debentures To Be Issued By The Company That Will Build The Wind Power Plants
The BNDES (National Bank For Economic And Social Development) validated financing of R$ 690 million for the construction of four wind power plants by Casa dos Ventos under development in Bahia, according to information from the development institution on Tuesday (25).
Part of the financing provided by BNDES will occur through a loan and part through the subscription of debentures to be issued by the company.
The 4 plants to be built (Ventos de São Januário 16, Ventos de São Januário 17, Ventos de São Januário 18, and Ventos de São Januário 19) will be located in the municipalities of Várzea Nova and Morro do Chapéu in Bahia.

Largest Wind Farm In Latin America
Giant Capacity
According to BNDES, the installed capacities of the plants in the four wind farms total 288 megawatts (MW), enough to supply approximately 744 thousand households.
The plants present in the four wind farms are part of the Babilônia Sul Wind Complex, a plan that also includes investments “in the associated transmission systems.”
BNDES also stated that the financing package included contributions through the issuance of infrastructure debentures from FDNE (Northeast Development Fund) and the Banco do Nordeste, as well as resources from Casa dos Ventos.
The Investment
“The resources will be used for the purchase of Brazilian wind turbines, civil works, and specialized technical services,” according to the statement released by BNDES.
Founded by businessman Mário Araripe, former owner of the Troller jeep manufacturer, Casa dos Ventos may announce at any moment the entry of the French energy, oil, and gas giant Total as a partner.
According to reports, the French multinational will pay around R$ 3 billion for 35% of Casa dos Ventos’ capital, in a deal expected to be announced in the coming days.

Owner of 48 plants, 17 hydroelectric plants, 1 thermal, and 30 wind farms, Copel (Companhia Paranaense de Energia) will further expand its portfolio. The company acquired the wind farms Aventura and Santa Rosa & Mundo Novo from EDP Renováveis for R$ 1.8 billion.
Altogether, there will be 9 wind farms in operation, in the municipalities of Touros and São Tomé in Rio Grande do Norte, with an installed capacity of 260.4 megawatts (MW). The news was announced this week in Valor Econômico, during an interview with the company’s president, Daniel Slaviero.
The vast majority of the energy generated, about 76.5%, was purchased through auctions in the regulated environment (ACR), and the remaining 13.7% of the energy is sold in the free market. There are still 9.8% for new contracts.
