Cearense pilot Alexandre Frota landed at Sun ‘n Fun in the USA, completing the first phase of his solo round-the-world trip aboard an RV-10. Learn more!
The conclusion of the first phase of an epic journey took place this week in Florida, United States. The cearense pilot and businessman Alexandre Frota landed in Lakeland to participate in Sun ‘n Fun, one of the largest aviation fairs in the world, after crossing several borders alone.
Aboard his experimental single-engine RV-10, registration PT-ZRQ, the aviator completed the first of seven planned segments for his ambitious round-the-world trip.
Known as “Alex Bacana,” the pilot uses the visibility of the event to promote the Frotas pelo Mundo project, sharing the challenges of operating a small aircraft on long-distance missions.

Activities at Sun ‘n Fun and the daily life of the expedition
Frota’s participation in the American event goes beyond showcasing his aircraft. The pilot is volunteering in the organization of the fair and remains camped next to his RV-10 until next Sunday, April 19, 2026.
For those who wish to follow the details of this adventure, the operation’s routine is shared in different digital formats:
- Behind the scenes in real-time: Daily reports published through stories on the official project profile on Instagram (@frotaspelomundo).
- Documentary series: Detailed episodes released every Sunday on the Frotas pelo Mundo channel on YouTube.
- Public interaction: Direct messages and technical lectures during the trip’s stops.
During the journey, Alexandre Frota has to deal alone with navigation, international communications, and fuel planning, critical factors for the success of a round-the-world trip.

Next steps of Alexandre’s project, “Frotas around the World”
As soon as the activities at the aviation fair are concluded, it is expected that Alexandre Frota’s focus will fully return to the skies. The pilot will begin the flights of the second phase of his expedition, following the schedule that divides the planet into seven large logistical blocks.
Therefore, Alexandre Frota’s project continues to challenge the limits of Brazilian experimental aviation. With the support of a growing audience, the aviator prepares for the next thousands of miles, maintaining the commitment to document each landing and takeoff of this historic journey.
