Brazilian Aluminum Can Manufacturing Sector Ranks Third in the World Market
According to the Brazilian Association of Aluminum Can Manufacturers (Abralatas), the Brazilian beverage sector is the 3rd largest market for aluminum cans globally, reaching around 33.4 billion aluminum cans sold in 2021, an increase of 5.2% compared to 2020, with a recycling rate of 98.7%.
The capital allocated by CanPack for the construction of the new manufacturing unit for cans in Minas Gerais comes after the announcement by Ardagh, which presented plans for the construction of two packaging factories also in Minas Gerais, one for manufacturing aluminum cans for beverages and the other for producing glass bottles.
In Addition to the Investment in the New Minas Gerais Unit, CanPack Also Invested R$ 250 Million in a New Plant in Manaus
The company also invested in a new unit for aluminum component production in Manaus, which is scheduled to be delivered in 2023. The new unit could generate around 150 jobs in the capital of Amazonas, which is considered the largest hub for aluminum beverage can lid production in the world, with three factories already installed.
Brazil currently has 25 aluminum can production factories spread across the country, with 19 focused on producing the bodies of the packages and 6 on the production of lids, where Manaus already concentrates the majority of aluminum lid manufacturing in Brazil, while other lid manufacturers are spread across different Brazilian cities.
