Get to Know the Getúlio Vargas Foundation
The Getúlio Vargas Foundation was established in December 1944. Its initial goal was to prepare qualified personnel for the private public administration of Brazil. At that time, the country was already beginning to lay the groundwork for the advancement that would be confirmed in the following years.
FGV decided to broaden its scope and moved from the restricted field of administration to the broader social sciences and economics. The institution surpassed educational boundaries and advanced into the fields of information and research, eventually becoming synonymous with excellence and quality.
As a brand of boldness and pioneering spirit, the Getúlio Vargas Foundation inaugurated, in Brazil, undergraduate and strict-sense postgraduate programs in private and public administration, as well as postgraduate programs in economics, accounting, psychology, and education. FGV also laid the foundations for a consolidated economy, starting from the development of balance of payments, economic indices, and national accounts.
