Amazon company, Rivian, comes out ahead of Tesla, General Motors and other manufacturers and launches the first unit of the production version of the Rivian R1T electric pickup, which has just left the assembly line. This action was already expected due to the approaching start of deliveries of the model, which are scheduled for this month of September.

This Wednesday (15), RJ Scaringe, CEO of Rivian, tweeted the news and a photo of the first production electric pickup, which has the color Rivian Blue. According to the CEO's Tweet, after months of building pre-production vehicles, this Wednesday morning the company's first electric customer pickup rolled off its production line. The team's collective efforts made this moment possible, and Scaringe says he can't wait to get the model into the hands of his customers.
Rivian pulls ahead of Tesla and General Motors after electric pickup launch
According to the latest post on the Amazon company's website, CEO RJ Scaringe walked out driving the first electric pickup truck for the customer, surrounded by factory workers in Normal, Illinois. For now there are not many details, but it seems that Rivian has reached the stage of having the first units of the electric pickup ready for deliveries to customers, surpassing Tesla and General Motors.
It is worth mentioning that the company postponed the launch of the electric pickup, the last one being in September, a deadline that was reconfirmed by the Amazon company a few weeks ago. Soon we will have some official information about the historic milestone and details about the progress of deliveries to customers. Rivian vehicles recently received EPA range ratings of over 300 miles (482 km) on a single charge.
The company, which has surpassed Tesla and General Motors, has raised $10,5 billion since 2019 and since then has expanded its factory in Normal Illinois, created several jobs, won Amazon as a commercial customer and recently filed a confidential IPO filing.
