General Motors is working on a new strategy for its electric cars, and soon we will see the electric pickup truck produced by the company on the market.
General Motors, which is currently represented by Chevrolet in Brazil, is working on a new strategy to innovate in its electric car market. The company unveiled the new Hummer EV SUV, which will be manufactured by General Motors, and confirmed the development of an electric version of the pickup, Chevrolet Silverado.

The return of the Hummer, only in the electric version, had already been confirmed by General Motors. Even the pickup version had already been recognized, however, it turns out that the SUV bodywork is the most iconic, as it refers directly to the H1 and H2 models, which are the most classic of the former Hummer division.
The Hummer, one of the company's electric cars, is powered by three electric propulsion units. Together, they develop 840 hp of power and make the utility vehicle go from 0 to 100km/h in 3,5 seconds. To facilitate maneuvers, the SUV has four-wheel steering. There are also c assistantsautonomous driving and even its own power generator, which can recharge electronics and even other electric cars.
New Pickup in partnership with General Mortos
The Chevrolet pickup, in partnership with General Motors, will also be part of the company's line of electric cars. According to the brand's statement, it will use a new platform specific to the company's electric cars.
Chevrolet guarantees that it will have a range of more than 640 km when it hits the market with its final version. Silverado and Hummer EV SUV will be manufactured at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant. Renamed as Factory Zero, where US$ 2,2 billion was invested in construction. It is expected to become one of the pillars of General Motors' electrification strategy.
The pickup should begin production as early as 2022, but it will only be on the market in early 2023 and will be sold with a 2024 model.
Electric car market in Brazil
The electric car market in Brazil is still very new and taking short steps, since the vast majority of Brazilians still have a certain amount of fear in purchasing electric cars, even knowing that by the year 2030 a good part of combustion-powered cars will be prohibited.
The electrification of the automobile industry is not a question of luxury, but of preserving oxygen for future generations, since by eliminating a large part of combustion-powered cars, gradually the levels of co2 will also be reduced from the atmosphere.
In the state of São Paulo, for example, the State Government approved the circulation of at least 200 electric cars initially with the electrification program to encourage the use of electric cars. IPVA and forced all new buildings to insert charging points in their parking lots.
