“This new partnership with JAC is further proof that we are on the right track,” says Ambev’s Vice President of Sustainability and Procurement, Rodrigo Figueiredo.
The Ambev executive explains that the models have a similar operational range to other electric vehicles already existing in the portfolio. “Compared to a combustion vehicle, they are more technological, sustainable, and do not produce noise in the environment, in addition to contributing to our journey to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere,” he adds.
Company Will Use Clean Energy to Power the Vehicles
The refueling of Ambev’s trucks will be carried out at charging stations called “PitStops de Carga.” The first charging stations have been installed in Rio de Janeiro and Osasco. The choice of these locations is justified by the high daily demand in the respective regions and for being strategically and geographically well located.
To supply the charging points, Ambev will use clean energy as part of the actions to achieve the company’s sustainability goals: to have 100% of the electricity purchased from renewable sources and to reduce carbon emissions by 25% across the entire value chain, both by 2025.
