This new pioneering project in Bahia is being carried out at Salvador's Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport and will have 11 solar panels
Bahia, January 02, 2020 – Salvador Aeroporto Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães is installing a 4,2 MWp solar panel at the edge of the runway to produce electricity for the terminal. The project involves an investment of around BRL 16 million (US$4 million / EUR 3,6 million) and will cover more than 30% of the terminal's energy needs, in addition to reducing the airport's carbon footprint by almost a third.

Salvador's international airport, in the state of Bahia, will be powered by 11.000 solar panels capable of producing 6.300 MWh per year. The new solar array will span an area of 30.000 square meters (322.917 square feet).
The system will start operating in the second half of February, the airport said in this week's statement.
Salvador Bahia International Airport is operated under concession by Vinci Airports SAS of the French group Vinci SA (EPA: DG).
