A Discovery In The Alvheim Region Of Norway Reveals A Considerable Volume Of Oil And Gas, Eventually Royalties From Production Could Be Shared With The United Kingdom
Aker BP Made A Significant Discovery With An Exploration Well Drilled In Its Froskelaar Main Prospect In Norway. The 24 / 9-14 Scarabeo 8 Rig, Submersible From Saipem, Reached The Oil And Gas Reservoirs, Which Have Estimated Gross Resources Between 45 Million And 153 Million Barrels Of Oil Equivalent, According To The Anglo-Norwegian Operator.
The Asset Was Drilled To A Depth Of 119 Meters Through Production Licenses 340 And 869 Operated By Aker BP, Near Its Boyla Field In The Alvheim Production Area In The North Sea.
Aker BP Said That Most Of The Discovery Is Located In PL869, But Part Of It May Extend Across The Median Line Between The United Kingdom And Norway, In Which Case Each Country Would Benefit From Oil And Gas Tax Revenues Based On The Proportion Of Resources Within Their Borders.
