Alvopetro Is Estimating About 2 to 5.8 Million Barrels of Oil in Well 183-B1 and Has Started Drilling Operations in Bahia to Expand Its Oil Production Focused on Exploring the Reserves of the Recôncavo Basin
The oil and gas company Alvopetro announced on Monday (06/06) the start of drilling operations for well 183-B1, located in the Recôncavo Basin in the state of Bahia. This is another stage of the expansion plan of the company in exploring oil and natural gas in the region, after finding indications of the fuels in other areas of the basin in recent months.
Drilling of Well 183-B1 in the Recôncavo Basin Is Started by Alvopetro, Which Aims to Expand Oil Exploration Focused on Bahia
After a series of studies around the oil and gas reserves in the region and a long analysis conducted by Alvopetro, the company announced the start of operations for the drilling of well 183-B1, located in the Recôncavo Basin. Thus, the company continues its expansion plan in the exploration of oil in the Bahian region, which has large reserves of the fuel and new areas with potential for future production by the company.
According to the oil company, the estimated volume by Alvopetro’s team of specialists for well 183-B1 in the Recôncavo Basin is between 2 million barrels and 5.8 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The rise in oil prices could ensure an extra revenue of R$ 100 billion for the Federal Government, indicates a recent economic study.
Thus, this will be a very productive venture for the company, which is now looking to expand its oil production. Furthermore, Alvopetro stated that the completion of drilling operations at the new well should occur within 44 days and that it is working hard to meet the expected deadline.
Finally, the company highlighted in an official note for the announcement of the start of drilling: “In our Murucututu project, we have completed the construction of the pipeline to connect well 183 to our Caburé pipeline and we are in the final stages of constructing our field production facilities. We expect our well 183 to be in production in July.” The reservoir of the Murucututu field encompasses the blocks REC-T-183, of which the company’s new oil well is part, and also REC-T-197, both located in the Recôncavo Basin.
Company Will Continue Exploring Oil and Natural Gas in the Recôncavo Basin After Discovery of Possible New Fuel Reserves in the Region
Alvopetro announced that after the completion of the entire drilling operation for well 183-B1, the company plans to drill a follow-up well in the neighboring block, REC-T-182. This initiative aims primarily to evaluate the porosity of Água Grande further away from the bounding fault and target the Sergi Formation, further east of the bounding fault, thus testing the lateral extent of the 182-C1 Água Grande discovery for possible future explorations in the region.
Although the drilling of well 183-B1 is currently the company’s focus, it is not the only fuel exploration project in the Recôncavo Basin, as Alvopetro discovered the possibility of natural gas reserves in the basin in April. This is because after drilling well 182-C1 in block REC-T-182, the company reported that the well discovered a net pay of 25 meters of natural gas, with an average porosity of 8.2%.
Thus, the company continues its testing in the region while focusing on oil exploration in other blocks of the Recôncavo Basin, such as in well 183-B1, which will be the new production area for the fuel for Alvopetro in the coming months.
