The City of Santa Rosa, in Rio Grande do Sul, Is Going Through a Time of Great Development of Airport Services. All of This Due to the Investments Made by the Local Government, Which Has Worked to Expand the City’s Airport.
On Wednesday, February 15, the update of the technical project for the expansion of Santa Rosa – Luís Alberto Lehr Airport was announced. For this, a total amount of R$ 43 million was made available, guaranteed through the agreement signed between Federal Government and local city hall. Soon after, the company contracted by the city hall began to prepare the budget for the work for later submission to SAC – Civil Aviation Secretariat.
Among the main improvements planned are the expansion of the runway, increasing from 1,200 meters to 1,630 meters, in addition to another 120 meters of paved safety areas (blast pads) and 180 meters of unpaved area (RESAs). This change means that aircraft will be able to depart from the city and fly up to 600 nautical miles (about 1,100 kilometers), which will enable direct flights to other cities such as Curitiba, São Paulo, and Campo Grande.
All this significant movement is only possible thanks to the insistence of the Municipal Government in seeking resources and solutions that promote the development of the city. Mayor Anderson Mantei highlighted: “This is one of the most important projects of our administration. We believe in and are working for the development of Santa Rosa, and the airport is essential for us to continue evolving, growing, and offering more quality of life to our community.” In addition, 72 hectares were acquired for the works, with 37 hectares alone in the last year.

During this year, R$ 16 million of the total investment was secured through the indication of the budget amendment by the Caucus of Deputies from Rio Grande do Sul to the Federal Government, while the remainder will be made available during the next year. As soon as the works are completed, the Santa Rosa Airport will be authorized to receive aircraft with up to 150 passengers.
The project has generated great expectation as it represents an excellent alternative for those intending to travel to other regions without needing to travel long distances. With this investment, everyone will benefit as there will be improvements in the quality of airport services offered in the city, generating more opportunities for local businesses and merchants due to the increased tourist movement that will be stimulated by the facilities provided by the new airport infrastructure.
In conclusion, it is important to emphasize that the initiative proposed by municipal authorities has significantly contributed to the development of the region, bringing benefits also to local residents. We hope that this project continues to be successfully executed.
