Statements from the Minister of Communications on Anatel Approval

According to Fabio Faria, Minister of Communications, the auction has already left Anatel and is now going to the TC, which will have around 60 days to make final observations. It will return to Anatel, and in 40 days we will have the auction. We’re talking about 100 to 120 days. By June or July at the latest, we will be conducting the 5G technology auction in Brazil.

He also states that it was included as an obligation in Anatel’s bidding notice that we will have 5G technology functioning in all capitals of Brazil, the 5G standalone, which is the enhanced 5G, of higher quality by June next year. In June 2022, we will have pure 5G technology operating in all 27 capitals of Brazil, and before that, the hybrid solution, which is the 5G standalone, that increases speed.

Main Differences Between 5G Technology and Current 4G

In 4G, we have Facetime, audio messages, allowing you to communicate with anyone anywhere in the world instantly. 4G was designed for people. 5G is different. It aims to change the life of industries. It will be a revolution for industries. Companies will see a significant gain in productivity. The entire production chain of companies will communicate with each other.

For example, we will have remote telemedicine in operation. Here in Brasília, a doctor can perform a surgery in one room. If there is a surgical room in the middle of the Amazon, for example, he can carry out the operation from here.
