According to Aneel’s statistics, residential consumers are the main responsible for this record and Minas Gerais is the state that consumes energy through solar generation

The installed capacity of distributed solar generation (DG) in Brazil exceeded 2.3 GW, according to Aneel’s statistics, the regulator of the energy sector. The overall capacity of DG in the country surpassed 2.5 GW on Thursday night, with solar energy being the most popular source in this segment, counting 200,942 systems connected to the grid.

Minas Gerais is the state with the most DG connections – 42,549, followed by São Paulo with 32,548 and Rio Grande do Sul with 27,874. Residential consumers represent the majority of the total DG solar installations with 145,920 systems. Commercial and rural installations follow behind with 36,086 and 13,040, respectively. On Aneel’s website, these data can be consulted in detail.

Since 2012, more than BRL 11.9 billion (US $ 2.5 billion / EUR 2.2 billion) have been invested in this segment, reported the newspaper Valor Econômico citing data from the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR).

Last month, BID Invest, the private sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), granted the equivalent of US $ 110 million in local currency to boost small-scale photovoltaic (PV) energy systems in Brazil.

With Guarantee from Aneel, There Will Be More Solar Generation Projects in the Interior of São Paulo

Aneel’s concession a few years ago for renewable projects has borne fruit. The French renewable energy producer, Total Eren, announced on Tuesday (10) that it has finalized financing for its 90 MW solar energy project Dracena in Brazil and announced new projects there.
