Suspension involves detergents, disinfectants, and liquid laundry detergents from specific batches after inspection points out irregularities at the company’s manufacturing unit in São Paulo.
The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) determined on May 7, 2026, the suspension of the manufacturing, commercialization, and distribution of several Ypê brand products throughout Brazil. In addition, the agency also ordered the immediate recall of the affected items after identifying a risk of microbiological contamination during a technical evaluation carried out at Química Amparo’s manufacturing unit, located in Amparo, in the interior of São Paulo.
The information was released by Anvisa itself and quickly echoed in several national media outlets due to the scale of the measure and the brand’s reach in the Brazilian cleaning products market. According to the regulatory agency, the decision specifically affects products whose batches end with the number 1.
Among the affected items are detergents, dish soaps, liquid laundry detergents, and disinfectants widely consumed in supermarkets and commercial establishments across the country.

The decision generated great repercussions on social media and concern among consumers who have the brand’s products at home. After all, Ypê is among the best-known manufacturers in the domestic cleaning sector in Brazil.
According to Anvisa, a technical inspection identified serious flaws in the company’s factory production process. The problems would involve critical manufacturing stages and possible non-compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices required by regulatory bodies.
According to the agency’s report, the irregularities found directly compromise the quality and safety assurance of the products.
Inspection identified microbiological risk in Ypê products

Anvisa’s measure was based on a detailed technical evaluation carried out at Química Amparo’s industrial unit.
According to the agency, the inspection revealed serious flaws in internal processes related to production, quality control, and sanitary safety.
Furthermore, the agency stated that the identified problems increase the risk of microbiological contamination in certain products manufactured at the industrial plant.
Because of this, Anvisa immediately determined:
- suspension of manufacturing;
- suspension of sale;
- suspension of distribution;
- recall of affected batches.
The decision applies exclusively to products whose batches end with the final digit 1.
Among the products affected by the measure are:

Ypê contests Anvisa’s decision and states that products are safe
Following Anvisa’s determination, Ypê released an official statement contesting the regulatory body’s decision.
In the statement, the company classified the measure as “arbitrary and disproportionate”.
Furthermore, the manufacturer stated that it possesses robust scientific grounds based on independent tests and technical reports that would prove the safety of the products.
According to the company, products in the dishwashing liquid, concentrated dishwashing liquid, liquid laundry detergent, and disinfectant categories do not pose any risk to consumers.
Ypê also declared that it maintains continuous dialogue with Anvisa and informed that it intends to appeal the decision.
According to the manufacturer, new technical evidence will be presented to try to reverse the suspension as soon as possible.
The company also reinforced its commitment to quality, transparency, and sanitary safety.
Meanwhile, Anvisa advises consumers who possess products from the affected batches to immediately stop using them.
Additionally, the agency recommends direct contact with Ypê’s Customer Service (SAC) to obtain information on the procedures for collecting and replacing the items.
Experts explain that measures like this are part of the preventive protocols adopted by health agencies to reduce public health risks while more in-depth technical analyses continue to be carried out.
The repercussion of the case also reignited debates about sanitary inspection, industrial quality control, and the safety of cleaning products used daily by millions of Brazilians.
In the coming days, new information is expected to be released by both Anvisa and the manufacturer.
