T-Mobile and Starlink join forces in an innovative project that promises to bring satellite internet directly to cell phones, expanding the signal in isolated regions and revolutionizing mobile connectivity
T-Mobile and Elon Musk's Starlink company have announced a new project to connectivity. The proposal is to use low-orbit satellites to expand the internet signal, especially in isolated regions. The plan could change the global connectivity scenario, according to the companies involved.
The main new feature is the way cell phones connect to the internet. With this technology, devices will be able to directly access Starlink satellites.
This eliminates the need for satellite dishes or other equipment. Satellites function as cell towers in space, representing an important step forward in bringing the internet to places where terrestrial networks do not reach.

The project is still in the testing phase. The idea is to allow customers of several carriers, such as Verizon and AT&T, to also use the new network.
According to T-Mobile, more than 500.000 square miles of the United States that are currently without coverage could benefit from the new system. The areas include rural areas, remote locations and even stretches of ocean.
Compatible models
Not all cell phones, however, will be compatible. Only 11 models will be able to use the network. Among them are iPhones 14, 15 and 16; Google Pixel 9; Motorola Razr 2024 and other devices from the brand; in addition to several Samsung models, such as Galaxy S21 to S25. There is still no set date for the official launch.
List of compatible models:
- Apple: iPhone 14, iPhone 15, iPhone 16
- Google: Pixel 9
- Motorola: Razr (2024), Razr Plus (2024), Moto Edge, Moto G Power 5G (2024)
- Samsung: Galaxy A14 to A54, Galaxy S21 to S25, Galaxy Z Flip 3 to Z Flip 6
