Other Investments Of Tesla’s Future Competitor – Hydrogen-Powered Electric Motorcycle
Last month, Xiaomi had already announced the project of its first hydrogen-powered electric motorcycle. The electric motorcycle was named Segway Apex H2, and it’s a continuation of the Segway Apex line, which began production in 2019. The Xiaomi electric motorcycle is a hybrid motorcycle that combines an electric motor and an internal combustion engine through a hydrogen cylinder.
According to Tesla’s competitor, the electric motorcycle consumes only 1 gram of hydrogen per kilometer and will have a recharging time much shorter than conventional electric motorcycles, but as not everything is perfect, the electric motorcycle has a small obstacle, which is the supply of hydrogen cylinders, which are not available at every gas station.
The Chinese model also features a futuristic design with two oscillating arms (fork/pivot) on the right side giving the impression that the wheels float above the ground. Although production has not yet started, the company has already begun taking reservations for orders.
The estimated timeframe for the first deliveries is 2023, with a price of US$ 10,700 (R$ 59,580.00 in direct conversion). In the same month, the CEO of Xiaomi also spoke about the company’s electric car, which is expected to be an SUV or sedan, and also stated that the price of the electric car could range from 100,000 to 300,000 yuan (in direct conversion reaching R$ 255 thousand), but there is still no forecast for when the electric vehicle will be sold or even presented.
Xiaomi Aiming For Sustainability
Various companies today, in addition to trying to provide a better experience for their customers, also aim to transform the world into a more sustainable place.
Xiaomi, initially, was well known for its smartphones and gadgets and many more products, such as helmets for cyclists. The company entered the car sector in mid-2019, launching its first car, which was not yet electric.
