Fuel Now Records Its Sixth Consecutive High, and No State Reported a Decrease in the Average Price During the Period
The average price of common diesel per liter at Brazilian gas stations closed May at R$ 7.17, a 4.40% increase compared to April, while the S-10 type rose 4.14% and closed the period at R$ 7.28. This is indicated by the latest survey from the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL).
“The price of diesel has now recorded its sixth consecutive increase, and unlike the end of April and the first half of May, no Brazilian state reported any decrease in price, according to the latest survey by Ticket Log. Compared to the beginning of the year, the price is already over 29% higher, and compared to a year ago, around 53%,” highlights Douglas Pina, General Director of Mainstream for the Fleet and Mobility Division at Edenred Brazil.
North Leads in Average Price, Reaching R$ 7.85 at Pump
According to regional analysis, the North leads in the highest average price for common diesel, sold at R$ 7.43, and the highest increase in price, at 4.83%. Gas stations in the North also recorded the highest average for S-10 diesel, sold at R$ 7.56, with an increase of 4.03%. The lowest averages for both types were recorded at gas stations in the South, at R$ 6.73 for common and R$ 6.82 for S-10.

No state reported a decrease in the price of both types of diesel. Bahia dropped from the position of the highest averages, but remains the leader for the most significant increases for the common type, which rose 9.49% from R$ 6.87 to R$ 7.53; and for the S-10 type, which increased 7.50% from R$ 7.11 to R$ 7.64.
Still in the analysis by state, Acre recorded the highest average for common diesel, sold at R$ 7.77, an increase of 2.74%; and Amapá showed the highest averages for the S-10 type, sold at R$ 7.85, with an increase of 0.73%. Meanwhile, Rio Grande do Sul presented the lowest averages for common diesel (R$ 6.67) and for S-10 diesel (R$ 6.72), despite increases of 3.80% and 3.46%, respectively.
