Free Distance Courses from the Federal Institute of Sergipe Offer Opportunities in Languages and Educational Training, with Defined Workload, Selection by Electronic Draw, and Classes Scheduled for the First Semester of 2026, According to Official Announcement Published by the Institution.

The Federal Institute of Sergipe (IFS) has opened 240 free vacancies in Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) courses in a fully distance format.

The opportunities include training in Basic Spanish, Basic English, and Intermediate English, as well as a course in the educational field, all with a workload of 160 hours and certification upon completion.

Enrollment occurs through electronic draw, with no exam required, as specified in Announcement No. 04/2026.

According to the official document, activities will be conducted through the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) of the institution, combining weekly synchronous meetings and asynchronous tasks.

The schedule anticipates the start of classes in March 2026, after completing the registration, draw, and enrollment stages.

Distribution of Vacancies in Language and Educational Training Courses

The announcement covers four FIC courses, with three focused on language teaching.

The largest offering is concentrated in Basic Spanish, which includes 90 vacancies divided into three night classes.

Each class will have weekly synchronous meetings, usually scheduled from 7 PM to 9 PM, on days defined by the course coordination.

The Basic English course has 30 vacancies, also in the evening, with live meetings during the same time frame.

For those who already have prior knowledge, the Intermediate English course offers another 30 vacancies, with synchronous classes in the afternoon, on Wednesdays, from 1 PM to 3 PM.

In addition to languages, the announcement includes the course in Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations, with 90 vacancies in the evening.

In two of the classes, the schedule for synchronous activities will be informed after the enrollment stage, as indicated in the announcement.

How Classes Work in the Distance Learning Modality of IFS

Although offered in a distance format, the courses do not function exclusively asynchronously.

According to IFS, each training lasts 20 weeks, with a weekly workload composed of two hours of synchronous activities and six hours of asynchronous activities, totaling 160 hours by the end of the course.

In practice, students will need to attend live classes at fixed times and carry out activities proposed on the platform throughout the week, such as exercises, guided readings, and interactions in the virtual environment.

For this reason, the announcement establishes as a requirement regular access to the internet and the availability of appropriate equipment, such as a computer, notebook, tablet, or smartphone.

The document also highlights that FIC courses aim for qualification and improvement in specific areas, being structured to serve both students and members of the external community interested in expanding knowledge.

Who Can Enroll in the Free Courses at IFS

The vacancies are intended for the general community, respecting the minimum schooling criteria defined for each course.

For Basic Spanish and Basic English, the candidate must be currently enrolled in or have completed High School.

In the case of Intermediate English, in addition to this requirement, proof of completion of the basic level of the language is required, either from a FIC course at IFS or through equivalent training.

The documentation must be presented according to the guidelines outlined in the announcement.

For the course in Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations, the stated prerequisite is the completion of Elementary School.

The announcement also establishes that each candidate may enroll in only one course within this selection process.

Electronic Draw Replaces Exams in the Selection Process

Unlike traditional selection processes, there will be no exam or analysis of academic performance.

The classification of candidates will be conducted through a Public Electronic Draw, a procedure described in the announcement as automated and based on randomness criteria.

The draw is scheduled for February 5, 2026, the same date when the preliminary results will be published on the IFS portal.

The list of applicants is to be published on February 4, allowing for a preliminary check of the data provided at the time of registration.

After the draw, the schedule anticipates online enrollment stages, with the first call between February 6 and February 12, 2026.

If there are remaining vacancies, the announcement details the possibility of new calls, including the invitation of excess candidates and public calls.

The start of classes is scheduled for March 9, 2026, according to the calendar published by the institution.

How to Register for the EAD Courses at the Federal Institute

Registrations are free and must be done exclusively online, between January 27 and February 3, 2026, through the IFS Examinations Management System.

The candidate needs to create an account on the platform, activate the account via email, and then select the desired course to complete the registration.

The announcement emphasizes that only one registration per person is allowed and that all official information, including results and invitations, will be published on IFS’s institutional channels.
