The Director-President of the Autarchy, João Rufino Júnior, was in Rio de Janeiro from April 4 to 7, holding a series of alignment meetings with entities that work on regulating the natural gas market.
The manager participated in meetings with representatives of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the Association of Large Industrial Consumers of Energy and Free Consumers (Abrace), the Brazilian Association of Independent Producers of Oil and Natural Gas (ABPIP), and the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
The Objectives of Arsepam with the Entities
With the ANP, João Rufino proposed a technical cooperation agreement for the exchange of experiences between the institutions. The proposal was well received by the federal regulatory agency’s board, and new discussions on the subject will be scheduled soon.
With the FGV, a possible collaboration for the institutional and organizational development of Arsepam was aligned, as well as the regulatory council integrated into the state autarchy. The regulation of Law No. 5.420/2021, which is the Natural Gas Law, was also discussed, as there are provisions that need to be the subject of regulation. The FGV is an important partner in this process.

With the other agencies, Arsepam sought to broaden the dialogue and strengthen relationships, as well as to establish the commitment to consult them whenever appropriate for normative creation processes.
The Importance of the Work for Amazonas
The work of Arsepam directly impacts these agencies, and it is important that they can be heard, thus building a regulatory stock and a normative framework which, based on the Natural Gas Law, also contributes to the growth of the free market and the consolidation of the economic development of Amazonas.
The legal advisor of ABPIP, Daniela Santos, emphasized during the meeting that information sharing is essential to understand the particularities of Amazonas and the points that require differentiated regulatory norms, taking into account the condition of the State.
