He was present in Houston to discuss cooperation with multinational companies BP, Petronas, TotalEnergies, and Equinor, aiming for mutual contributions in the oil and gas sector.
According to the state-owned company itself, the meetings with the major players in the sector “aim at future cooperations for energy transition and the implementation of new technologies in the oil and gas sector.”
After taking office in January as the president of the state-owned company, recommended by the Lula Government, Prates has been highlighting his commitment to increasing investments in renewable energies within the company.
In addition to meetings with oil companies, Petrobras also signed, during CERAWeek, an agreement with Equinor for the development of seven offshore wind projects in Brazil. They may cost 70 billion dollars, thereby strongly attracting investment to the national market.
Prates Reinforced Petrobras’ Position Regarding Joint Projects In The Oil And Gas Sector With Multinational Oil Companies At CERAWeek
Prates met with the CEO of BP, Bernard Looney, during the conference, and emphasized that both companies intend to work together in the oil and gas sector.
“We will continue with mutual visits to deepen discussions in both exploration and production and energy transition areas,” stated the current president of the state-owned company.
Additionally, he highlighted that both BP and other companies in the sector can cooperate with the state-owned company on carbon capture projects in the Amazon and mangrove regions.
The state-owned company also indicated that Petronas expressed interest in supporting renewable diesel production projects alongside the company.
The topic of energy transition in the global market was also at the center of Prates’ discussions with the CEO of TotalEnergies, Patrick Pouyanne, and the CEO of Equinor, Anders Opedal, the company added.
Thus, Prates reinforced Petrobras’ commitment to oil and gas projects with oil companies worldwide.
