Pix could become a headache between Brazil and the US, and the Lula government will go to the White House to explain the system before pressure mounts.
The ANP, known for its responsibility in regulating the country’s oil and fuel sectors, defines rules and supervises everything from exploration to fuel stations. In recent years, it has helped the government raise billions through auctions of exploratory areas.
Décio Oddone decided to end his term early in a letter sent to the government on January 26, stating that he had already fulfilled a mission and that he would leave the government free to choose the general director before two other board vacancies whose terms also end in 2020.
Oddone was to stay until March 27, to attend the signing ceremony of the contracts for the mega auction of the pre-salt last week, but the event was canceled. His dismissal was also made yesterday.
